EUGENE - Olga Ngata, the mother of former University of Oregon defensive tackle Haloti Ngata, passed away Friday night in a Phoenix, Ariz., hospital while undergoing treatment for a kidney ailment.
The 44-year-old Ngata was undergoing a dialysis session at Banner Good Samaritan Hospital when she apparently encountered a cardiac arrest. An autopsy was to be performed Monday to determine a precise cause of death.
Haloti Ngata stated during a telephone conference call several weeks ago to announce his decision to enter the NFL draft early that his mother's failing health was among the factors that led to his decision to forgo his final year of eligibility at Oregon, along with his responsibility to financially support his three brothers and one sister.
Haloti's father, Solomone, was killed in a truck accident in December of 2002 at the age of 45.
Services for Mrs. Ngata are planned for Monday, Jan. 23, in Salt Lake City, Utah, with arrangements being handled by Memorial Mortuary in Murray, Utah.

That's what I was thinking, I'd love to get this guy, but I don't see him falling to 15, and I don't think we need to trade up this year for anyone. I think maybe we go with a S with our first pick.
if he fell to our pick and we drafted him I would do back flips somersaults and dance naked in the street.
IF he fell to us and we didn't draft him I would dance naked in the street with my 7mm mag
we woudl be very hard pressed to not draft him aty 6'5" 340 and extremely quick off the ball he coudl help collapse the posket very very well. he can also stop the run extremely well. This woudl allow Davis to start at RE next year and us to spend 2 - 2nd day picks on DE's for the rotation. I woudl love to see us end u with Ngata in the first, Gocong in the 7th and Wimbley in the 4th. Our DL Rotation woudl eb beastly:
LE - Kerney/Gocong
NT - Ngata/Lavalais/Shropshire
UT - Coleman/Babineaux
RE - Davis/Wimbley
