Amen to that Brucifer...I live down here in Warner Vegas, and if RAFB were to close, this place would become a freakin' ghost town... 898,,

If there is any good news is that with East Point so close to Atlanta it will be able to recover much better than the area around Warner Robbins, Fort Gordon, etc, which would be devestated.
City Officials have some ideas on what to do with the land, but thats assuming the Army will actually get rid of it.

The NAS Atlanta land has a group of developers that want to buy it and turn it into a private airport. Sort of like Charlie Brown Airport.
You know the Government won't sell them the land. They'll just abandon the base and let the community lose the economic benefit with no way to get it back.

Not completely true - when they shut down El Toro & Tustun in California - they sold the land back to the state. This has also been down with a majority of the smaller bases closed - they will sell the land back to the state, which in turn the state sells to the city/county which then sucks for the tax-payers as basically our taxes are paying for the same lot of land TWICE!!!!
