Quick Vick will give Bills a challenge


(August 27, 2005) — Watching slick and quick Michael Vick run circles around the Jacksonville Jaguars in Atlanta's 23-7 exhibition road romp Thursday night adds to the anticipation of the Falcons at Buffalo's game Sept. 25 at Ralph Wilson Stadium.

There is a good chance that the Bills will enter that game with a 2-0 record after wins over Houston and at Tampa Bay, but Vick will be a unique and enormous challenge for Buffalo's stellar defensive unit (and vice versa). Buffalo's J.P. Losman moves well for a quarterback but he's a relative slowpoke.

Vick never has faced the Bills. He didn't play as a rookie in Buffalo's 33-30 loss in Atlanta Dec. 23, 2001, before a mere 43,320 fans. There won't be any empty seats Sept. 25, except when fans are jumping up and down watching the Bills chase him all over the field.

The networks blew it on this matchup. It should be a prime-time game instead of the New York Giants at San Diego on Sunday night or Kansas City at Denver on Monday night.
