Title: Prayers to those in the path of Katrina
tallygal73 - August 28, 2005 11:39 AM (GMT)
Hurricane Katrina has now been updated to a Category 5. It went from winds of 110 mph at the 11pm EST updated Saturday evening to winds of 160 mph before the 8am EST update.
I hope everyone in it's projected path is taking heed and getting the hell out of it's way today! This is worse than even Camille was they are saying. It will do much more damage to Louisiana than Andrew did to South Florida.

They need to wire up several c-130's to fly remotely and and load 'em full of several tons of high explosives and fly 'em towards the eye of the storm.
No, hell, no, I ain't got any idea if that would do anything to the storm, but it'd sure be damn neat to watch.

The good thing if it hits New Orleans...the Falcons wouldn't have to play the Saints there...they said the city will be under water for at least 6 months. New Orleans sits 6 feet below sea level and the storm surges are predicted to be at least 20-30 feet.

That oughtta flush out plenty of the dead from the silent cities.

God, I hope New Orleans isn't hurt that bad. And I hope we CAN play there, it is a great place to visit. I have been going to our games there for 6 years now and even visited once last summer on a non-football related trip. It is one of the places I look forward to going to each year. I don't take real vacations because I go on football road trips every fall and NO is always on the list of destinations.
There is NOTHING good about this hurricane hitting New Orleans. :(
Iowahorse - August 28, 2005 04:20 PM (GMT)
New Orleans is under mandatory evacuation right now.

Huh? Not sure of who you are talking about. I won the trip from a local radio station and took my current beau with me, so I didn't visit anyone while out there. I don't know anyone who lives there. I had never been during off-season amd my bf at the time had never been there at all, so we both completely enjoyed it. We even had a balcony room overlooking Bourbon Street and that was a trip.

I was only joking Shay...
I've been to New Orleans and not to party or go to football games. There are people in the Irish Channel section that are so poor they don't have any furniture in their homes, and most don't have windows that aren't broken. During the summer, the only meal the children eat are the lunches that the local missions provide daily. It's those people that I worry about, because they have no resources to even try to get out of the way. Their best hope is that the Super Dome can withstand the winds, which is still up for debate about the local government there.
MV4MVP - August 29, 2005 01:29 PM (GMT)
The Super Dome is leaking pretty badly as we speak.
