CindyMac - August 29, 2005 02:55 PM (GMT)
Check out
Fox NewsTwo large holes but the Dome is still structurally sound. The people inside can hear the metal flapping and the wind roaring! As scary and noisy as that would be - I would imagine the worst noise is from all the crying babies!

Head line should be as follows:
"Katrina and the Waves perform before a packed crowd at the
Superdome"
CindyMac - August 29, 2005 03:08 PM (GMT)
Ha! I have been referring to it as Katrina and the Waves all weekend!

Still a lot of water...less wind though.

If I understand the reports on The Weather Channel, there is an added threat of storm surge from Lake Ponchatrain as the winds whip around.
downtown Mobile underwater.
Riding out the wind is only the first step - I know - the flooding can continue for days! When Floyd came through here in '99, I remember thinking we survived the winds unscathed then I walked down the street (downhill) and saw the waters rising. The trouble had just begun for us.

Me, too. I have been singing Walking on Sunshine even though there is no sunshine with this Katrina.

I hate hearing about the devastation and flooding. This area cannot afford to be hit this hard and sustain long-term damage. Last year I visited some of the historical areas in the French Quarter and enjoyed it so much. It breaks my heart to think of the damage done that cannot be fixed and replaced, not to mention how many are losing homes and liveliehoods.

Walking on Sunshine
I used to think maybe you loved me, now baby I'm sure.
And I just can't wait till the day when you knock on my door
Now every time I go to the mailbox, gotta hold myself down
'Cause I just can't wait till you write me you're coming around
Now I'm walking on sunshine, oh oh!
I'm walking on sunshine, oh oh!
I'm walking on sunshine, oh oh!
And don't it feel good!
I used to think maybe you loved me, now I know that it's true
But I just can't spend my whole life just-a waiting for you
I don't want you back for the weekend, not back for a day
'Cause baby I just want you back and I want you to stay
Now I'm walking on sunshine, oh oh!
I'm walking on sunshine, oh oh!
I'm walking on sunshine, oh oh!
And don't it feel good!
Walking on sunshine
Walking on sunshine
I feel alive, I feel a love, I feel a love that's really real
I feel alive, I feel a love, I feel a love that's really real
I'm on sunshine baby, oh yeah!
I'm on sunshine baby
Now I'm walking on sunshine, oh oh!
I'm walking on sunshine, oh oh!
I'm walking on sunshine, oh oh!
And don't it feel good!

Thanks for those lyrics. I loved that song in the 80's when it came out.

Me, too. It was one of those "our songs" for me and my husband (then husband-to-be).

Katrina isn't the first big hurricane to hit the New Orleans area, and they've managed to survive the ones in the past. I have faith that they'll make it through it through this one too...I just wonder how they'll enjoy their new open air stadium when it's all over??? :)

Nope..you can just simply open the doors, and let the water out...it's going to be the new and improved Popeye's Spicy Chicken Open Air Stadium...they can nickname it the "Hopper"... fgtb76
