NFL Europe roundup: Sea Devils pick up first win at Thunder's expense
FRANKFURT, Germany — The Hamburg Sea Devils picked up their first win of the season Saturday, beating the Berlin Thunder 38-14 behind three touchdown passes by Brock Berlin.
Berlin, replaced as the starter by Todd Mortensen, responded by completing 12-of-15 passes for 183 yards in the second and fourth quarters.
Hamburg (1-1-6) scored the most points in the club's two-year history. Thunder fell to 2-1-5.
Javon Witherspoon caught two of Berlin's scoring passes, including a 52-yard reception. Scott McCready caught the other TD. Mortensen completed 9-of-17 passes for 64 yards.
Centurions conquer Admirals
AMSTERDAM, Netherlands —Terry Butler ran for a 4-yard touchdown and the Cologne Centurions held off a fourth-quarter rally by the Amsterdam Admirals for a 20-13 win Saturday in NFL Europe.
Trent Smith got a 1-yard touchdown pass from Shane Boyd, and Nick Setta added field goals of 38 and 26 yards for the Centurions (3-5).
Jared Allen, starting in place of the injured Gibran Hamdan, was 18-for-27 for 177 yards and one touchdown for Amsterdam (6-2).
Galaxy 16, Fire 14
FRANKFURT, Germany —David Kimball made a 23-yard field goal with 2 seconds left to give the Frankfurt Galaxy a 16-14 victory over the Rhein Fire on Saturday.
Craig Ochs was 18-of-32 for 171 yards and a touchdown, and Roger Robinson gained 144 yards on 20 carries for the Galaxy (6-2). Timmy Chang was 15-of-19 for 170 yards and two touchdowns for the Fire (5-3).
