FANUM MINERVAECitizens! Fanum Minervae invites all prospective novices and allies to read this message.
Invitation to citizens willing to serve MinervaFanum Minervae invite you who are ready to serve Minerva. The Fanum provides all the teaching and initiations required to become a properly trainer priest of Minerva.
During your formative period you are expected to carry your own weight. If you are a farmer, you will help out on the farm, if you are a brewer you help out with the brewery, if you are a musician you will perform at festivals and in ceremonies, etc.
What are our activities?Festivals Our big festivals, Quinquatrus between March 19 and 23, and of course our special festival on June 13th.
Consultation Help citizens to set up their own place of worship in their home. The family gods are important to every one of us.
Interpretations Omens need their interpretation. Some omens are given by Minerva, and our cult is best suited to interpret those.
Blessings The blessing of Minerva is important for many in our society: artisans, musicians, medical practitioners, military, . . .
Rituals and ceremonies We, the priests of Minerva, are experts on ritual
formalis. We serve the community when a house is to be inaugurated; when an infant is blessed; when a new business is started up; etc.
Knowledge In our
librarium you can read sacred texts.
Initiation We offer initiation into the mysteries of Minerva to laymen.
Travel Some of the Fanum's priests are assigned duties away from the fanum. These are often perilous journeys across the Empire.
Invitation to Roman guildsFanum Minervae hereby openly invite all manner of guilds for the forging of co-operative bonds. The possibilities are endless. Please contact me for further discussions on how we can work together for the glory of the Empire.
By appointment,
Flavius Licinius MinervalisOOCI really want to start or join a religious guild. If you have any comments, or are interested in joining the guild when the game is launched, please let me know. If there are more people interested in a Minerva religious guild who want to join Fanum Minervae I'll put up a website with more information on Minerva and the cult. If you represent an Imperial guild and want to start some kind of collaboration: I am very interested to hear from you too.
You can read more on
my view on religious guilds here. I am going to try to get Fanum Minervae as historically correct as possible, but adding a fair sprinkle of modern inventions as well ;). I am for example not sure at all that there actually was a mystery cult attached to Minerva's cult in Rome (at any rate if there was one, it was less known that the Big Mystery Cults, like the Eleusinian and Orphic Mysteries). I'll try my best to make the whole concoction as fun as possible for all involved!
