Title: V8 engine
Description: for the 2006 Season
Racer - August 16, 2005 03:56 AM (GMT)
I can't wait to hear the V8 engines for the 2006 season. I've heard that some of the teams are reving the engine up to 22,000 RPM. O they are going to sound unbelievable = 2 litres, 22K RPM, 8 Cylinders and around 900 hp :D

i just creamed myself. too bad you cant get a street car to rev like that.... are they useing mufflers this season? i heard they were contemplating it.....

I don't think they will use mufflers, but Minardi have opted to run a rev limited V10 instead of the new V8.

lol whats the rev limit? 18,000 rpm? still, it should be interesting how they set up the v-10 car vs. the v-8 car. are they going to be the same size? or will they let them have a bigger engine? that extra weight in the rear, could give them a little bit of a advantage.

I'm not 100% sure but I think Minardi's V10 will be a 3 litre Cosworth, rev limited to 16,000 RPM. But as always things change and it's not taking effect untill next season, so I'm sure there will be a few details that will change.

a ton of deatails will change.... but we'll just have to wait and see how things play out. still, its gotta be fun being the only v-10 vs. a whole field of v-8's. some people are gluttons for punishment.

Minardi is the lowest budget team, running off of approximatley a 42 million dollar budget, While Ferrari and Toyota have 400 million.
their website has a list of the cars they have ran since 1985 - http://www.minardi.it/team/history/seasons.asp?LN=UK
Minardi are so tight on budget that they acctually use stuff that the other teams give them. (hehe a F1 team running on used parts)
They scored 7 points at the US Grand Prix though. (cause they where 2 of the 6 cars in that race)
