Lucky: Good morning.
Sam: It is now.
~
Lucky: I don't need you dropping by to police my behavior. My marriage is over, and Sam and I are adults, so if we want to spend time together, that's our business.
Sam: You know, lucky, I was at Nikolas' yesterday and we got interrupted. This probably has nothing to do with you.
Nikolas: No, it actually doesn't. I -- I just came by to apologize to Sam. I had no idea that you'd be here.
Lucky: Apologize for what?
Sam: Well, you see, Nikolas blew up at me yesterday at the hospital. I sort of, kind of started a fight with Elizabeth.
Nikolas: I apologize. My behavior was inexcusable.
Sam: So was mine. And, really, you don't have anything to worry about. In fact, I am actually looking forward to going to the ball.
Nikolas: Oh. Will you be attending as a couple or --
Lucky: Ok -- just back off. Mind your own business.
~
Sam: What time does your shift start?
Lucky: Uh -- roll call? Well, it should be in, like, 20 minutes. I should get going.
Sam: I don't know, really, detective. You are looking just a little flushed. I'm feeling you might need to call in sick and spend the rest of the day in bed with me.
Lucky: Hmm. Ok, I wish I could, but --
Sam: But -- oh. You're right -- you got to work.
Lucky: Yeah. I'm sorry, I --
Sam: No -- really, don't be. Actually, I do have a job and I should probably make an appearance before the entire crew walks off set, so --
Lucky: No, I'm sorry for what happened with Nikolas. If I sounded like I was embarrassed to be with you, I'm not.
Sam: No, no. Come on. You don't owe me any explanations. I enjoy spending time with you, but, you know, I've -- I've told you before if you're having any doubts or you don't want to continue this, then you know you're -- you're free to walk out the door, no strings attached.
Lucky: No, that is the last thing that I want. The reason that I was short with Nikolas is because he ruined my surprise. I came over here because I wanted to invite you to the ball. Would you like to be my date?
~
Elizabeth: Hey. Hope you don't mind -- Alfred said I could wait in here for you.
Nikolas: No, no, not at all. What brings you by?
Elizabeth: This. I just wanted to thank you in person for inviting me to the ball, and, yes, I would love to come.
Nikolas: You're welcome. It's going to be a pretty special night, I hope. It wouldn't be the same if you didn't come.
Elizabeth: You know I couldn't be happier that you and Emily have found your way back to each other. But if either of you are hoping that attending this ball will do the same for me and lucky, please don't, because it's not going to happen. Greed that having a divorce is the best thing for our family.
Nikolas: Right, right, but you slept with another man and lied nearly a year, and now he's the one walking away from the marriage with nothing!
Elizabeth: Nikolas?
Nikolas: I'm sorry, that was uncalled for.
Elizabeth: I had no idea you felt this way.
Emily: Uh -- listen, Nikolas and I are always going to wish that you and lucky could have made your marriage work, but we'd never judge or resent you for going through the divorce.
Elizabeth: It doesn't sound that way.
Emily: These mood swings that Nikolas has been having have been causing him to lash out, Elizabeth, even at the people that he cares about the most. An um --treatment.
Nikolas: Be- ahem -- you for the divorce. If I implied o, -- and I hope that you are still going to come to the ball.
Elizabeth: I wouldn't miss it.
Nikolas: Thank you.
~
Sam: You know, Nikolas has been so moody lately, I would hate top to Wyndemere with you as my date.
Lucky: Ok, Nikolas invited us both to the ball. He can't choose who we take as our dates.
Sam: I get that. I just don't want to start another fight. Nikolas and everyone else and what they would think. What do you want? I mean, would you like to go with me as my date to the ball?
Sam: Ok, look, this is the deal. I have never been big on fairy tales. In fact, I have never thought of myself as being Cinderella at a big ball. But it doesn't mean I'm going to pass up the chance to experience it with you.
Lucky: That's a yes? Hold on, hold on. All right, get this straight -- Nikolas and Emily -- are you I them? Because this is I don't want to ruin it for them.
Lucky: No, no, no, you're not going to.
Sam: All right, one last thing. Emily and Elizabeth are like best friends, right? I just -- think they're ob of you to show up together.
Lucky: Elizabeth and I are getting a divorce. And sometimes it's better to let the past go and move on. And I'd like to start that by taking you to the ball --
Sam: Me?
Lucky: Tomorrow night. Let me think. Ok.
[Lucky chuckles]
Sam: I can hardly wait.
~
Luke: Hey, son.
Lucky: Hey, it's good to see you.
Luke: You, too.
Lucky: Yeah.
Luke: Uh -- uh -- this is kind of a bad time.
Lucky: Well, hey, I got the message you left about mom, I would have been by sooner, but I got a lot going on at home.
Luke: Sure, no problem, but like I said, I'm kind of busy here.
Lucky: Am I interrupting something?
Luke: Are you asking in an official capacity?
Lucky: Well, I haven't checked in yet. What's -- what's with the suit?
Luke: Oh, well -- I'm working on a project.
Lucky: In the D.A.'S office?
Luke: Look, either arrest me or keep walking.
Lucky: It's good to have you back, dad.
Luke: Well, it's great to see you.
