=====

[Knock on door]

Sam: Lucky?

Lucky: I'll be right there.

Sam: Uh -- I -- I hope you don't mind me just walking in like this. Hi.

Lucky: Hey.

Sam: It's -- it's just been a while since we've had a chance to talk, and I was thinking that maybe if you're not busy --

Lucky: Well, actually, I kind of got my hands full.

=====

Sam: Oh, no. No, I woke him up. I didn't mean to make things more difficult for you -- any more difficult than I already have.

Lucky: No, he hasn't slept more than an hour since I brought him straight home from the hospital.

Sam: Well, I think that's to be expected. You know, he -- he had smoke inhalation and -- it's no wonder --

Lucky: You know what? I drove him around, you know? It always used to work getting him to sleep as a last resort. But I couldn't even get him to sleep. I swear, I must've put 300 miles on my car, sung every lullaby I know. Yeah.

Sam: Hi. Well, I think he's probably a little unsettled being shuffled around so much.

Lucky: Yeah, well, every child needs to know where his home is. That's what my mom always used to tell my dad. She was always determined to make sure -- sure that Lulu didn't grow up restless -- you know, always on the run like I did. She used to, like, take one of my dad's shirts like this -- oh -- and then she'd wrap her up and rub on her back, take her around, take her over to her crib, show her her toys, all the familiar things in the house. See, this -- this is your crib. These are all your toys, and this is your home -- a place you can always come back to, a place you'll always feel safe.

Sam: This is probably really, really bad timing, given everything, but, Lucky, I have really missed you.

=====

Sam: Hey. Have you spoken to your brother or seen him?

Lucky: Well, I tried looking in on him, but he was off having a test and I don't want to crowd him, you know? But after the way he went off on the guy who was threatening to blow up the whole E.R. --

Sam: Yeah, about that guy, Lucky, Joe -- he really is a good guy.

Lucky: Right now he's a good guy who's in a whole lot of trouble.

Sam: Well, that happens to good people. I me, things happen and you get desperate and you do things that you normally wouldn't do, things that you know -- clearly know that aren't right.

Lucky: Are we still talking about Joe the mechanic?

Sam: Yes. I mean, of course. It's just that I -- I know Joe, I understand him. I know -- I know what it's like to struggle and never know when your next dollar is coming. I mean, you -- you just feel so lost, and suddenly you lash out, and you do things that you normally wouldn't do if you would've actually sat and thought it through. I know that you are really angry with me for telling Carly that Jake is really Jason's, and I just -- I really want to apologize, and I need you to know that I mean it. I really, really do. It's just that when it comes to Elizabeth and -- and Carly and Jason, I lose all perspective, and I just feel really hurt and angry, and I don't know why.

Lucky: Have you gotten that out of your system?

Sam: Wow. I mean, it would be nice, wouldn't it?

Lucky: Yeah, it would be.

Sam: I've -- I've got to go. Um -- I've got some scheduling to do for the show and I just -- I -- ahem.

Lucky: You know, if you don't mind mashed peas and canned ravioli, we could, you know, have a late-night dinner together.

Sam: Yeah, I would really like that.

=====

Lucky: Say hello. Mrs. Ramirez -- she stopped by. She offered to take care of Cam so we could come by and visit you.

Elizabeth: Oh -- hi, baby! Oh, you have no idea how much I needed this. Mommy missed you so much. How's he sleeping?

Lucky: He was a little out of sorts at first.

Elizabeth: Hi, baby. Are you giving him the new formula?

Lucky: Yeah.

Elizabeth: Okay.

Lucky: You know, he was a little cranky from the hospital and everything that's happened. And then I remembered a little trick my mom used to use to get Lulu to go to sleep, and it did the trick.

Elizabeth: What about his medicine?

Lucky: Twice a day.

Elizabeth: Oh, good.

Lucky: Daddy's got it all covered -- right, Jake?

>> On the next "General Hospital" --

Leyla: I heard you had an emergency, Dr. Drake.

Nikolas: I've made up my mind. I'm not having this operation.

Jason: I want to be with my son.

Elizabeth: Are you wanting to take Jake?
