Title: HDTV
Description: How to get the ultimate picture...

I am going to explain how you can fully use your HDTV; how to get the most optimized resolution and best performance - the best experience.

If you use component cables you will only be able to choose between 480p up to 1080i (1080p with HDMI); neither of these choices is the ultimate for your HDTV.

Let me take my HDTV as an example...

I have an 26" LCD HDTV with 1360x768 as the optimized resolution. If I should use the 720p (1280x720) it wouldn't look truly right, same with 1080i. So what you need to do is to get a "VGA HD AV-cable" so that you can connect thru the "PC" input on your HDTV.

This will make it possible to change to your optimized resolution. The picture will be in correct proportions, it will look so much better; a sharp image yet smooth and soft. This is how the game was intended to look.

I have tried all the different resolutions (480p to 1080i) and compared it to the 1360x768, and the results are rather stunning. Even the performance of the game increases.

A tip from me to you! :D

I use the "five" colored cable that i got with the 360 and the speakers on my HD ready Phillips 32 inch is not impressive but now I connected the audio cable white and red one to my stereo I got a horrific sound =)
i think its the "VGA HD AV-cable" but Iīm not sure its it that one you mean

its green yellow blue and white red

the component cable is one of the lowest resolution cables, like Nick said HDMI is the best but costs money, it resembles a usb2 cable. and if I think about it kv if you have the yellow plugged in that may be one of the reasons for lower graphics it should be r (red) g (green) b (blue) on one side into the component hook up on tv the the red and white (which are the sound and are usually kind of seperated from the rgb) hooked up to the other with yellow not attached.....

yeah you right its not yellow.

its blue red green..

still with a HDMI what about the sound can I still use my stereo ?

LittleBig Al - September 16, 2007 10:58 AM (GMT)
yes the correct way you should still put the white and red into tv the there should be red and white output which goes to your reciever and thne you have sound at tv and stereo. it was great having surround on splinter cell cause you could really hear someone trying to sneak up on you and what direction if you listen well......

Iīll check if sound still works with HDMI

You will need the "Elite" to use HDMI.

About the picture, as I wrote earlier, that you should look up which resolution is the optimized one for your HDTV. As for my HDTV, the 1360x768 is the best I can't use either the HDMI (1080p) or component (480p - 1080i) to get the ultimate one. But if you have a Full HDTV, HDMI would be the ultimate solution for you.

Check the manual... what resolution have the HDTV?

Connect the VGA-HD-cable to a regular computer monitor, start the 360 thru that and choose the correct resolution. Then connect the VGA-HD-cable to your HDTV and voila - perfect picture!

No manual?
Give me the brand and version and I can try to look it up for you.

My HDTV has an optimized resolution (1360x768) and a optimized HD-setting (720p) - highest HD-setting 1080i.
