Better or Worst?

With the new King Kong Movie comming out soon,
I have noticed a dramatic amout of movie re-makes lately,
A few good most that are no-where was good as the originals, for example...

GOOD REMAKES:

Ransom (1928), remade (1996)
12 Angry Men (1957), remade (1997) * A must see movie

NOT SO GOOD REMAKES:

The Fly (1958), remade (1986)
The Ring: (1998), remade (2002) *For a good scare watch the original
War of the Worlds: (1953), remade (2005)
Shaft: (1971), remade (2000)
Ocean's Eleven: (1960), remade (2001)
Planet of The Apes: (1968), remakde (2001)

BAD REMAKES:

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory(1971), remade (2005)
Italian Job (1969), remade (2003)
Physco (1960), remade (1998)

What other Titles can you name?
I wanna see some votes please
;)

refused to even watch Italian job remake saciralige such a classic Caine film could never be bettered.I quite liked Depp in chocalate factory although i agree you've got to get away from the pretty version of the seventies which i also liked.

To enjoy holloywood re-makes you have to forget you ever saw the original film otherwise you'll never enjoy it. Once you do that you'd be surprised at how enjoyable some re-makes are. I enjoyed Ocean's Eleven and The Italian Job. I was disappointed by Shaft, hated Planet of the Apes and the verdict is still out on Willy Wonka (haven't seen that yet).

I think War of the Worlds is one of the best SCI-FI movies ever done. And I'm a true SCI-FI fan. Hell, I even watch Dr. Who! I think it was so realistic and the tripods were just amazing.
