Title: How Did You Start Playing Warhammer?
Hazm - September 6, 2007 06:04 AM (GMT)
Was thinking about how difficult it seems to be to get into the hobby the other day and just wondered how everyone else got into it. We were really quite lucky, we were into Warcraft 2 at the time and liked anything Fantasyish. We spotted an ad for High Elf Spearmen as I recall in a Toyworld flyer and decided it looked pretty sweet. Went down to the Nelson Toyworld and talked to a guy called Chris Tobin (some of you may remeber him) who worked there. He got us hooked and we bought the big starter box and away we went.
What about the rest of you? Seems to me that the most likely way to find out about it is by seeing the products on the shelves as there isn't a lot of advertising out there.

I saw some people playing under a tree at a park using the roots branches etc as terrain. I liked the looks of the soldiers and here i am.

Three mates of mine were playing it when I was about 16. Watched a couple of games but wasn't really sure still until dark elder was released. Who could resist inter-stella space pirates that drink peoples souls.

No way! That's awesome. Playing under a tree tehehe...
You're going along a dangerous road there buddy if you're thinking of another army already, I'd say try to finish what you have, all too easy to be sidetracked when the newest army comes out or whatever. At least play some games first... ;)
Fantasy Chaos are especially cool.

Had a friend who had some, as well as his brother (Simon and Andrew) and he and one of his friends brought a model each to school and had a duel.
Didn't collect till a message in the nayland daily notices requested that anyone interested in the hammers meet in one of the art rooms. Lots showed up.

I had some friends in England, a brother and *gasp* sister pair who collected it and i got hooked on the look of the chaos spikes etc. Then i got sick of power armour, so there were Chaos guard, and now just the Blackhawks. Yes this is my third army.... :ph43r:

Think some kids had some artwork to begin with. Then some guy had some. Then bought some genestealers and a white dwarf....
Remember being real disapointed when I realised that Fantasy and 40K were different.
Then people at Intermediate were interested in 40K only...

Hey guys.
Had a buddy of mine bring a copy of 2Ed WFB back from England in the early 80s and have been hooked from there on in.I used to play Rogue trader but then tanks got added and it got boring very fast.
