Description: feat. Super Junior

saeyun - March 27, 2006 06:39 AM (GMT)
Hello everyone! :clap: :clap: Finally! I wrote a fic about Super Junior. Hehe.. this will be my first Sj fic, so I hope you like this...

anyway, enjoy!!!!!

My Summer Internship

Chapter One

I’ve always wanted to be a journalist. It has always been my dream since I was a kid. Whenever I visit my father who works in a newspaper company, I would get a weird sense of excitement. It’s fun to see a bunch of journalists running around the office and beating deadlines. And the best thing of all, you get popular in the newspaper without actually being seen.

Being a journalist is fun. First, you get to meet different people: ordinary people, politicians and celebrities. Well, I’m not much interested in celebrities because it’s only for pure entertainment. They never gave me an impact in my life except for politicians and ordinary people with different stories to tell, so I’d stick with meeting them instead.

Second, you get to know the news first hand before the public. Now who wouldn’t want that? I mean, knowing everything before anyone else? That’s basically the power of media.

I don’t know what made me drawn to the print industry. But after I met the legendary Park MinHoo, who was a famous veteran journalist who leaked out the bad political wrongdoings of former President Kim DaeJung, I decided to become like him. A journalist.

Another reason why I wanted to be a journalist is because of my dad. He worked his way up from being a reporter to an editor. And I think he encountered and learned many things during his journalism days. He shared some stories that really made me laugh, and sometimes cry.

But my father reminded me that sometimes, his job has its price to pay. You get death threats everyday. Whenever you expose an unlawful activity of a certain politician, you become the enemy. The target. Maybe that’s why my father changed our telephone numbers a lot.

Anyway, my dad was glad that I wanted to follow his footsteps. But he didn’t want me to be a news journalist like him. It’s dangerous, he reminded me. Instead, he wants me to be a lifestyle journalist. And that meant one thing: writing in the entertainment section.

I practically argued with him almost every single day that celebrities didn’t interest me much. They’re boring, I reasoned out.

“SooJin ah… why?” My dad asked me that a million times. “Don’t you want to meet famous stars?”

As always, I’d shake my head no and explained that they live in an extra-ordinary life that is probably dictated by their managers or something. And who would want to know what’s the latest gossips between celebrities? Who would be interested in the clothes they wear, the lip-gloss they buy, and the people they dated? Not me, of course! The current events is much more interesting than celebrity gossips.

Because I wanted to live the dangerous life like my father and Park MinHoo, I practiced writing. During high school, I wrote for the school newspaper. When I got into college, I took up journalism in Yonsei University.

Now, I finished my junior year and would soon be a senior. But before that, I need to do my summer internship before my senior year starts. And that means no vacation for me. But it didn’t matter to me. In fact, I got excited when I was assigned to be a police beat reporter in a daily national newspaper: The Seoul Chronicle.

During my internship, I insisted on not writing for the entertainment section, so the editor-in-chief granted my request, since he knew my father so well. But my life drastically changed when I totally screwed up in this one assignment and ruined my internship, my summer and my principles as well.

Chapter Two

“I’m done!” I sighed happily as I stared at the computer screen. I just finished writing my police beat article and I was satisfied about it. Hope the proofreader would make a good job editing the mistakes… if I have any. “Oh SooJin’s done for the day!”

“SooJin, you’re done?” Someone asked me from behind. I turned around to see another intern from Seoul University, ShinJi, smiling at me.

I nodded. “It took me an hour to write that.”

“An hour? Wow… the last article I wrote took me two hours!”

“Writer’s block?” I asked worriedly.

She laughed. “Yeah… a little bit. I didn’t know what angle to write in my story, but I somehow got the hang of it.” Then she looked up at the clock and gasped. “Six-thirty? Oh crap! I have to go!”

I grinned. I somehow knew why she wanted to leave so suddenly. ShinJi didn’t want to miss her favorite drama series. “Don’t tell me that series is still not over?”

“I’m in episode eighteen,” She grabbed all her things on the table next to mine and ran for the door. “I don’t want to miss seeing Jo InSung’s sexy face. Bye SooJin!”

“Jo InSung? Who’s that?” I asked her but she already left the room. I shrugged. Oh well. I’m not interested in the guy anyway, so I better forget it.

I scanned around the room and only four of us were in the newsroom, so it’s pointless for me to stay here. Most of the writers went home and the proofreader, and some editors would usually stay late at the newsroom.

Before I could grab my things and go home, I heard a door opened loudly. The room became silent when our editor-in-chief, Mr. Nam JiSuk, emerged from his office and looked at us angrily.

“Where is HyunJoo? Where the hell is Kwon HyunJoo?” The editor-in-chief, or the EIC yelled.

The proofreader, another editor, a photographer and I stared at each other. Somehow, we knew that we were in trouble.

“Uhhh…” The photographer cleared his throat and said, “HyunJoo is sick.”

“Sick?”

“Yes Ed,” The other editor replied. “She has been sick for almost a week now. Didn’t you receive her memo?”

He gave him a sarcastic look. “Would I still be asking if I received her memo? No! I never received any memo from her!”

“You… you want us to call her Ed?” The proofreader asked.

“Never mind about her. But we have a major problem right now. Nobody took an interview for Super Junior this week. And the feature article is supposed to come out tomorrow. Saturday lifestyle is supposed to be “Celebrity Profile.” And Super Junior is our selected profiler for this week. We don’t have a feature article for that segment. What should we do about this?”

Somehow, I felt uncomfortable watching the scene. I’m still an intern, so I don’t think I should be included in this… little scene that they made. After all, these bunch of people are experienced, so they can fix this problem in no time.

I almost grabbed my voice recorder from the desk when the EIC turned to me. “Oh SooJin!”

I jumped and froze. “Y-yes… ummm… sir?” I couldn’t dare call him Ed, or could I?

“Do the interview.”

I blinked my eyes. “Interview what?”

“What do you mean ‘interview what’? Go and interview Super Junior!”

I was still confused about the whole interview thing. “What’s Super Junior? Is it a store or something?”

This time, the three remaining people laughed out loud except the EIC. Meanwhile, the editor gave me an incredulous look. “You mean… you don’t know who Super Junior is? Oh my God… this is unbelievable!”

“No.” Seriously, would I be joking when I don’t know what is a super junior?

“Super Junior is a twelve-boy group. They are singers… well, they’re a project group.” The proofreader winked at me. “In case you don’t know, they’re hot.”

“Ohh… I see…” I said slowly. Then suddenly, it finally dawned on me that I would be interviewing… celebrities? “Wait just a minute… Mr.Nam…”

“What?”

“May I remind you that I only write serious articles? Like police beats and real news? I told you that when I first started my internship here.” I told him sweetly.

He stared at me for a moment. Then he asked. “Do you think entertainment news in not real news?”

I…Well…” I began to stutter while looking for some answers but he cut me off.

“Ms. Oh, are you a permanent employee here?”

“Well… I’m an intern-“

“Then do as I say!” He suddenly barked at me. He grabbed my bag, shoved it to me and pulled me out to the door. “Since you’re only an intern, then do as I say. I don’t care about your journalism principles and all that crap. I run a newspaper here and my ass is on my line if you don’t get that interview.”

Mr. Nam pushed me out of the door and bellowed out. “Deadline is tonight. Midnight. If you fail this assignment, then I’ll flunk you in your internship.” Then he closed the door behind me.

I could only stare at the door in front of me. Suddenly, fear was written on my face. How could I write a feature article when I never wrote one in my life?

Chapter Three

I stared at the large building in front of me, and somehow knew that I was in the right place. I sighed and looked at the piece of paper that I’ve been holding for awhile. Yep. This is the right place all right. The SM Entertainment building.

I was glad though that the proofreader found me before I could take a taxi. I lost all hope until she showed up and gave me an envelope, saying that I should read everything about the boys or I’ll be screwed. Yeah right. Maybe they want me to get screwed up or something. First, the editor. And now, the proofreader. They must really hate my guts.

Anyway, like I said, I was in front of the building. I was scared to go in, but my job – err… should I say, my internship is on the line here. So I took a deep breath, and walked inside the building.

I took the envelope in my bag and looked for the picture of Super Junior once again. For some stupid reason, the proofreader provided me the picture, but not the names. Aigoo… am I suppose to guess each of their names or what? Or ask each of their names on my own? And what kind of a dumb manager who names a group ‘Super Junior’?

I wanted to throw away the picture. Looking at their faces didn’t help me at all. If only I could punch that stupid EIC for giving me such an assignment. I wasn’t born to be a features writer. I was born to do the most dangerous and dirty work. Unveiling politicians and their evil-

My train of thoughts vanished when someone poked me by the shoulder. I stared at the guard who had a smirk on his face. “What?” I asked.

“Stalking hours are over for you kid.”

“Stalking? Who said I was stalking?” I said with clenched teeth.

The guard scratched his head. “But aren’t you supposed to be one of the fans? I’m surprised you’re alone to stalk SM stars.”

That’s it! I couldn’t take it anymore. I opened my bag and furiously searched for my internship ID. When I found it, I pulled it out and almost shoved it to his face. “Does this look like a stalker to you? I’m an intern for Seoul Chronicle. I’m here to interview Super Junior!”

This time, the guard’s face was flushed with embarrassment. “S-sorry miss,” He said apologetically. “I’ll go and call the Mr. Choi for you.” Then he left me standing there for about… twenty minutes. Seriously, they have lousy services. They couldn’t even get a chair for a journalist like me to sit on. Finally, the guard came back with another man in a suit trailing behind.

“Sir,” The guard explained. “This is the girl said she’s a journalist from Seoul Chronicle. She’s here for Super Junior. I’ll leave you two alone Sir.” Then the guard bowed and left us.

“Good evening sir,” I bowed at the man with a suit and introduced myself. “I’m Oh SooJin, an intern from Seoul Chronicle.”

The man smiled. “Nice to finally meet you Ms. Oh. I’m Choi DuJin. I’m the road manager of Super Junior,” He extended his right hand and I shook it. Then I began following him in the elevator while he talked and rambled on about the future plans of the group.

“As you can see,” He began as the elevator closed its doors on us. “It’s been eight months since they debuted. The boys are still doing separate works. HeeChul and Kibum are still doing Rainbow Romance. ShiWon is filming another series. And the rest… well, they’re still busy with Super Junior show. But you can ask them about it later. They’ll answer it for you.”

I just bobbed my head up and down with what he said. To tell you honestly, I don’t know what he was talking about. I don’t even know who is HeeChul, or KiBum or even ShiWon! And I’m still not getting the 12-member group as a project group. Mmm… maybe I should ask him beforehand to avoid embarrassment?

Before I could open my mouth and ask, we reached the seventh floor. The door opened, and Mr. Choi stepped out of the elevator. I only shrugged and followed him down the hall.

After endlessly following this guy (and its getting on my nerves), we stopped at a door. As he opened the it, I could hear noise. Lots of noise. When I entered the room, the talking stopped. And suddenly, twelve pairs of eyes stared at me, and I felt uncomfortable. The doom has arrived!

“Uhh… hello!” I waved uneasily at them. “I’m Oh SooJin, an intern from Seoul Chronicle.”

Mr. Choi leaned over to me and whispered. “They’re all yours.” I was shocked by his words because the next minute, he was gone. Did he just leave me alone with these twelve, strange guys? Help me!

I looked at them again, and counted them silently. Good, everyone’s here. And I recognize some of them in the picture. I took a deep breath, and composed myself. I’m an aspiring journalist, so I need to look confident in front of them. I opened my bag to see that… my voice recorder was not there!

I suddenly panicked. I never interviewed people without it. And also, I’m not good with listening while writing notes at the same time. The last time I did that was two years ago. Oh my… this is bad. Really bad.

“O-okay…” My voice started to quiver as I took out my notebook and pen instead. I opened on a blank page and gave it to one of them. “Can you write down your names?”

The boys only gave me a blank stare. “You’re asking us for autographs now?” One of them, a tall big guy protested with an incredulous look. “But the interview hasn’t started yet!”

“Uhh… I mean… I wanted to get your names for verification. To avoid… uhh… mistakes. Just your names.” I said and heaved a sigh of relief. Well, at least I got an alibi.

They looked at each other and soon gave in. “RyeoWook,” The dyed blonde-haired guy handed the notebook to the silent guy who just observed everything. “You write it down.”

We all waited as the guy named RyeoWook scribbled something on the notebook. When he was done, he stood up, handed the notebook to me and spoke softly. “I added our birthdays and age. Just in case you want to know the age range of the members.”

Well, I’m touched. At least somebody like RyeoWook seems to empathize me. It would be nice I could interview him alone instead of twelve guys.

“Thank you RyeoWook! Now…” I cleared my throat and read their names silently. “Let’s start the interview. But before that, I want to get familiar with all of you. Let me start with…”

They all groaned. They must have figured it out that I don’t recognize them or have never heard of them before. Well, tough luck for them! I only grinned at them to ease my tension and started roll-calling their names. Oh boy… this interview could take me a whole night!

Hello!! sorry for the late update.
anyway, here's the next chap. ENJOY!!!!

Chapter Four

“Most of us will be busy for this summer. Some are still continuing with the drama series, while some of us have individual projects like radio shows, MC’s, TV guests in variety shows…” JungSu a.k.a Eeteuk, was rambling on while I was writing furiously in my notebook. If you remember, I didn’t have my voice recorder with me, so I have to use whatever I have right now.

“Also, since we have gone to Thailand months ago, we would like to venture our talents in another country like Japan or China.” KangIn suddenly butted in. “This would be an opportunity for us to be known in abroad before the rotation starts.”

I nodded as I wrote more in my notebook. Seriously, this KangIn guy likes to interrupt conversations, huh. I guess he really likes to talk a lot and hogs the spotlight. Geez… celebrities! So full of themselves!

I turned to one of their tallest guys and asked. “HanKyung… after being a member of Super Junior and establishing your name here in Korea, do you have plans to go back to China and become an actor or a singer?”

The guy’s face turned pale and stared at me uneasily. “I… I’m not HanKyung…” He stuttered. “I’m ShiWon. Choi ShiWon.”

“Huh?” I scratched my head in confusion. “But you spoke a little bit of Chinese awhile ago, right?”

All of them giggled except for ShiWon who turned red from embarrassment. “Noona,” One of them, named SungMin, corrected me. “He is HanKyung… the Chinese member!” He pointed at the other tall one who had a cap on his head.

Okay, I forgive SungMin for that. Calling me noona in front of everyone makes me feel like I’m old or something. I’m still twenty-one dammit! But he’s a respectful kind of guy, so he’s off the hook for now. “Ahem… HanKyung, I apologize for my mistake earlier.” It was my turn to be embarrassed.

To everyone’s shock, HanKyung stood up from his seat, went up to me, and bowed. “Its all right Miss Oh. Everyone makes mistakes sometimes.” He bowed at me once again and went back to his seat.

I was still stunned by what HanKyung did that I didn’t notice everyone in the room laughing and making fun at him. “Noona, don’t worry about it. He’s just respectful to everybody. He’s just afraid of offending people so he bows and apologizes just like that.”

Aish! Not that noona thing again! Mmm… what was his name again? Ahhh… ShinDong… right? Thank goodness he explained that weird bow for me. And I forgive him too since he’s so respectful. Mmm… come to think of it, they should respect me since I’m writing this one for them! Talk about free advertising!

After getting HanKyung’s answers to my previous question, I suddenly remembered something. I have to ask them about the rotation! They’ve been mentioning it a couple of times but I never knew what it was about. “Can you elaborate more about the rotation? What is this all about?”

Everyone became silent. Some wouldn’t answer while the others looked away from me. I began to wonder if the rotation is a bad subject to open up. It seemed like they don’t want to talk about it. “Uhh…” I cleared my throat and laughed uneasily. “I think that’s about it. Thank you for sparing me your time. And… and… good night!” I grabbed my things on the table and walked out of the room.

Whew! Finally, I got over the interview. If you think interviewing twelve guys is an easy task, then you’re definitely wrong. It took me three whole hours – YES… THREE FREAKING HOURS just to ask them series of unending questions! Before I could walk away from the door, I heard my name mentioned by one of the guys.

“Is Miss Oh really a journalist?” A familiar voice asked in a loud voice. “That girl doesn’t look like she’s one.”

My eyes got bigger as I heard that statement. That voice sounds like HeeChul, right? That stupid blonde-wannabe Caucasian freak!

“I know… she was like panicky and stuff like that. She even asked me a stupid question. Geez!”

I frowned at what Kang-In said. That guy needs a major kicking in the butt. I leaned closer and tried to eavesdrop in their conversation.

“But it was funny when she thought ShiWon was Hankyung.”

“Hey, it wasn’t funny at all!” I heard both HanKyung and ShiWon protested. Then their voices became fainter since I think they went out to another door or something. And did I hear them speak Chinese just now? Talk about bilingual. Then I pushed those thoughts aside and listened more.

“You’re right DongHae. I almost fell off the chair when I saw ShiWon’s face.”

“We should have taken a picture of him EunHyuk. It was a Kodak moment for all of us.”

“Yeah… that was mad funny. Although I was kinda pissed off when she almost laughed at my name. What’s wrong with my name? Kim KiBum… it’s a cute name!”

“I don’t know about you guys, but I like her.”

“Well that’s because she said you’re cute YehSung hyung. I would have said the same thing if she said I was cute too.”

I couldn’t take it anymore. How dare those guys talk behind my back! I was polite and patient enough to get all their answers even without my recorder just to get a decent article, but they just have to ruin my mood! Aish! Whatever. I’ll just get out of here, write the stupid article, and not meet those boys again.

I quickly went out of the SM building. I’m glad it would be my first and last visit to that building. I seriously don’t want to go back there after what I went through.

While I was looking for a taxi, the rain started pouring in. Great! This is just great! I didn’t have dinner, just met twelve horrible guys, and I’m soaking wet. And I still have to return to the office and type the article. Damn it… how unlucky I could get!

After finding a taxi, I told the driver the address to the office. When I arrived at the office, I dashed straight to my table, and opened the computer. While it was loading, I took out my notes… and gasped. “My notes! They’re all wet! How could this be?” I cried while looking at them. What should I do now? I couldn’t even make out of the words since they’re all blurred!

After a couple of minutes, I tried to calm down. This is it Oh SooJin. If I don’t do this, then say goodbye to my internship. I stared at the screen… and began typing, while trying to remember the bits and pieces about that awful interview.

Chapter Five

It’s Saturday! It’s Saturday! Don’t you just love Saturdays? No work and just sleep all day. Oh yeah, I woke up late today. I got home last night at almost one in the morning and my body hurts. Maybe I overworked myself. Darn, it was because of that Super Junior feature article I did last night. If only that assignment wasn’t handed to me, then I won’t be in this condition.

After fixing the bed, I made my way downstairs. As I reached downstairs, the phone rang immediately. My dad wasn’t around the house, which was very unusual to me. He retired from journalism so he should stay home a lot. Where did he go anyway? All my thoughts about dad faded as I answered the phone. “Hello?”

“OH SOOJIN! YOU REPORT TO THE OFFICE NOW!”

The person on the other end screamed so loud that I pulled my head away from the phone. What’s with the EIC anyway? And did he forget that I’m still an intern? Gosh… he really has memory lapse.

“Mr. Nam,” I answered pleasantly. “The internship rules state that I should do my working hours only five days a week. If I remember correctly, you told me I was not employed in your company.”

“I am not calling you about that Ms. Oh. And your father is here right now.”

“My dad? Why?”

“We’re discussing some things here. We’re talking about your feature article you submitted last night.”

My article? What does this phone call have to do with my article? And why is my dad there? “W-what do you mean Mr. Nam?”

I heard Mr. Nam sighed and he dropped me the bomb in an angry voice. “Because of your feature article Ms. Oh, you got us all in trouble. IN FACT, YOU’RE GETTING SUED WITH A LIBEL CASE!”

I suddenly dropped the phone. My body froze. My lips quivered. I never gotten myself in trouble, but this is a first for me. How could I face Mr. Nam, my officemates… and my dad? “Libel case… I’m sued for a libel case…” It was all I could think about.

~~~
I arrived at Seoul Chronicle with a gloomy look. I couldn’t dare be cheerful when I just got sued. Aish… how could my life drastically change after that article? I’m probably the first intern who got sued for libel case.
Yes… blame the article SooJin. That’s it. If Mr. Nam didn’t give me that assignment, if I didn’t get myself caught up in the rain, then I would have written a decent article. But no! The weather, and those twelve rude people have to ruin it all! Oh my… I wanted to cry right now!
But it’s too late for tears right now. I just arrived to the office, and I bet everyone was waiting for me to get grilled. Time to face the music Oh SooJin!
The door to the EIC’s office opened, and I saw Mr. Nam, the lady proofreader, and my dad sitting on the right corner of the table. On the left, there sat Super Junior’s manager and unfamiliar people that I haven’t met. I sighed with relief. Good thing I didn’t see any of the Super Junior members here.
I bowed at both sides, and then walked to where my dad is and sat down beside him. Darn… this is so uncomfortable!
“Ms. Oh,” the person across me said. “I’m Atty. Cho SamShik, SM Entertainment’s legal counsel. I’m sure you now know why we are here, right?”
I nodded. “It was about my article, right?”
The manager, Mr. Choi, handed me today’s newspaper. “You became unprofessional in your work. First, you gave a lot of wrong information about the group. You mixed up a lot of their names and their ages. Second, you’re confusing the readers about their individual activities. You reported that ShiWon has a movie coming up when there isn’t any movie at all. And how come Kim KiBum was the last member to join the group? You spent three hours interviewing them!”
I read my article once again, and almost cried when I saw a lot circles being done for my errors. Guilt was written all over my face. This is it. My future journalism career is screwed.
Meanwhile, the lady proofreader apologized to the SM Entertainment representatives, “I apologize for everything. It seemed that I didn’t read her story enough to point out the mistakes. It was really my fault.”
“There’s no time for blaming. What’s done is done.” Atty. Nam spoke scolded with a loud voice. Then he calmed down and continued, “As we all know, the penalty for libel is very severe in our country. A person who damages a reputation through any mode of communication ends up serving up to seven years in jail, and a ten-year suspension of qualification…”
“What qualification?” I asked slowly.
“Suspension of voting rights and working for the civil service.” Mr. Choi pointed out.
“Or the accused has to pay a heavy fine up to fifty million won.” The EIC stated.
I cleared my throat. Seriously, this is a big damage I created. What have I gotten myself into? Serving jail? Not being able to vote? Pay fifty million won? Wait… isn’t that too much? Would they sentence that to a twenty-one year old intern like me?
Everyone was silent. I could tell that all eyes were on me, and were waiting for my decision. I don’t want to go to jail, so scratch that. And I also want to vote. After all, that is my right as a Korean citizen. So, I have no choice but to withdraw all the money I save so far and pay the penalty fine. Now, if I could just convince my dad to sell the house…
“I have a proposition to make!” My father, who has been quiet all the time, spoke. We all stared at him and waited for his… proposition. “My daughter’s internship has to accomplish all fourteen weeks of work. But since she spent her first week here at Seoul Chronicle, the rest of the weeks would be spent paying for her sins for SM Entertainment.”
“What are you trying to say Mr. Oh? What do you have in mind?”
My father stood up, looked at me in the eye, and announced. “I’m suggesting that my daughter spent the rest of her internship writing about Super Junior. SooJin’s article will be printed out every Saturday and will serve as a diary of the group. So what do you say?”
Everyone seemed to like the idea, while I sat there looking dumb. Does this mean, I’ll waste my thirteen weeks of internship for Super Junior? Ahhh… my summer is ruined!!
Chapter Six
I considered my bedroom as one of the most sacred places, next to our house, of course. My bedroom became my comfort whenever things didn’t go my way. I would cry and bawl, or just lie down in my bed until I fall asleep. Of course, there were times when my room was filled with happy thoughts. When my first article was published in our school newspaper, I spent the day in my room thinking and dreaming of becoming big someday. Spending time in my own, protected place was bliss for me.
But today, I wouldn’t be doing that. Instead, I’ll be whisked away for thirteen whole weeks in an unfamiliar place. Sure, I went to trips before with my dad and I would usually come back totally happy and bring new things to display in my room. But my situation now is different. I’ll be stuck in another place with those obnoxious twelve people. Aish! Why did I have to meet them in the first place?
Anyway, after the meeting yesterday, the SM management decided I should move into the building where Super Junior boys live. One of them said that they don’t usually let other people get near into that building or even sleep in one of the rooms. But since I have a job to fulfill, so they made an exemption. I was gonna share a room with one of their coordinators.
As of this moment, I’m packing the stuff that I need since I’ll be gone for three and a half months. Yeah, three whole months seems like nothing for some people, but it is a big deal for me. My internship was supposed to be spent in a newsroom, not follow some celebrities wherever they go. I swear, mine would be the worst internship ever!
After packing everything, I looked around the room, and sighed. This is it. In a few hours, I would be in another room, with a new bunch of people to meet, and with a new bed to sleep on. This gets me sadder and sadder…
I heard a car honked outside our house. That must be the road manager who will pick me up today. I must be getting the royal treatment here, considering I’m at fault in the first place. Hey… I need at least to be happy here for my father’s sake! After all, he got me out in this mess instead of facing time in jail.
I heard the door opened, and my father stood there, with both hands on his pockets. “You ready?”
I nodded sadly. “Well, I guess there’s nothing I can do about it.”
He walked to where I stood and grabbed my bag. “It won’t be so bad,” He grinned. “I told you before that feature writing is not that bad. Just think of this as a new experience. Okay SooJin?”
“Alright, alright…” I rolled my eyes with a smile and followed my father downstairs. We got out of the house and saw the road manager standing outside the car. He helped my father load my bag on the trunk, then opened the passenger door for me.
“Take care of yourself while I’m away, okay?” I said and hugged my dad. Even if I wanted to cry, I couldn’t.
My father let go of me and pinched my cheeks. “You too. Always double check your facts and don’t write hastily.”
“I won’t. Thanks for reminding me,” I joked sarcastically and got into the car. My dad and the road manager talked for awhile, then they both shook hands. The manager got into the car, started the engine, and drove off.
I looked at the rear view mirror, and I can still see my dad standing on the road, with a smile on his face. As my dad’s figure got smaller and smaller, I closed my eyes and thanked the heavens that I got a dad like him.
~~~

“So nice to see you again Ms. Oh,” Mr. Choi greeted me in front of the building. “I do hope that this time, you won’t screw up like last time.”

“I… err… yes Mr. Choi,” I muttered uneasily. I bowed at him and added, “I’m thankful that you are giving me a second chance to redeem my faults.”

“It’s good that you admitted your mistakes. Now, its time for you to meet your roommate…”

I followed the manager inside the building while he kept on talking about the rules of the apartment. “You must never divulge the address of this apartment. Also, you have to help the coordinators sometimes if the need arises. You must also accompany some of the boys if they have to film some shoots at dawn, or if they want to go out and buy something. Remember, you’re one of the older people here, so be responsible always.”

“Yes sir.”

We rode the elevator up to the tenth floor. When the elevator door opened, Mr. Choi, the road manager and I got out and walked through the hallway. While walking, Mr. Choi handed me a piece of paper.

“What’s this?” I gave him a questioning look.

“Since you’re staying for thirteen weeks, I decided to assign you to one member each week. So your article, which gets published every Saturday, must highlight one Super Junior member. Do you get me?”

This time, I looked at the list and saw that all names of the members were indeed scheduled for every week. Well, at least the idea made sense now. As I scanned below, I noticed that the thirteenth week was blank. “Wait… what about the thirteenth week-” I started to ask but was interrupted when we heard a door slammed somewhere and a high-pitched voice yelled.

“I’M NOT DYEING MY HAIR AGAIN AND THAT’S FINAL!”

I flinched as I heard that familiar voice. Wait… isn’t that…

“What’s with the codi nuna, making me change color again…” The owner of the high-pitched voice came out the room while banging the door shut. Then he turned to face us and was shocked when he saw me standing beside the manager. He pointed his finger at me while stuttering, “Wait… you… what are you…”

I slapped my forehead and grimaced. My instinct was right after all. That voice belonged to none other than that super freak HeeChul. How the hell could I not forget his name?

“Hello HeeChul,” Mr. Choi grinned. “I see you remember Ms. Oh SooJin, right? Well… both of you will start spending time with each other this week…”

“WHAT?!” Both of us yelled. “Why the hell would I waste my time with her?” HeeChul bellowed out.

“He’s right! How come he’s the…” I stopped in mid-sentence when I suddenly remembered the list. I read it once again and my eyes widened in horror when I saw the first name on the list: Kim HeeChul. One whole week with HeeChul? Oh my God… what have I gotten myself into?
