Title: Hmmm
Description: Suspicious...

Sirius Black - September 26, 2006 09:20 PM (GMT)
The corridor was practically empty.

Practically being key.

It was just Sirius there.

Sirius, and that statue. You know the one. /That/ one. The humpback. The witch. The humpback witch. Yeah, that one.

Sirius was leaning against the wall opposite the statue, staring it in the eye determinedly. There was something suspicious about the statue. There had always been something suspicious about the statue. The witch just screamed "look at me! I'm suspicious! I lead to a secret passage!"

He knew that's what the statue was saying. And now, he just needed to figure out how to get into the passage it guarded. Because he knew it guarded a passage. It had to. There was no way such an obvious statue didn't hold some secret or another.

Arms crossed across his chest, Sirius was engaged in a staring contest with a statue made of stone. Hollow stone. Had to be hollow. There was nothing behind the statue, he had made sure of that. He wasn't that stupid. Well, maybe he was sometimes, but now he was curious. And nothing stops Sirius Black when he is curious.

Sirius pushed himself off of the wall and walked the short distance to the statue. He circled it, squeezing through the small space between it and the wall.

He had told James to come over and poke around the statue [that sounded horribly wrong] with him right around now. Where was he?

Oh well. He wouldn't go anywhere until James showed up. Unless, of course, he found the passage after all.

Sirius poked the statue's back, wondering if anything would happen.

Nothing did.

He returned to leaning against the wall, watching it.

I know you're hiding something, he thought. He could have laughed at how stupid he must seem, but he was curious. Curiousity may have killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back.

[i'm going to assume it's evening time...ahaha. you didn't specify and if you did you have permssion to smack me..? xD ]

You know those days? The ones where you just sort of...WAKEUP, and you breathe in this giant gust of pure euphoria? It was one of those days. And Merlin, Lily LOVED these days. Especially since she'd been rather down-in-the-dumps as of late.

And along with these usually splendid, everything seems to go splendidly, right? I mean, it just appears like everything in your life just got the memo: TODAY WILL BE A GOOD DAY.

And, oh, it was.
Impeccable marks on a transfiguration exam. She ALMOST had to pat herself on the shoulder. Good job, Lily, good job.
She hadn't once spotted either of the Horrible Duo (Aka, Potter and Black), therefore, they hadn't bothered, ruined, smashed, harassed or anything else terribly negative that made this Red-Head fly off her rocker. Now, if that isn't luck, I don't know what the heck else is.
The sun had been especially grateful, thus allowing her to seat herself beside a favourite tree in the courtyard, and pull a book onto her lap. And, let's remind ourself, it is after all November. How often is that an option? In bloody November! Nothing could get in her way, she was practically unstop-

Oh Merlin... Lily stopped dead in her tracks, starring wide-mouthed at a certain Black. A certain Black she had not seen, spotted, hid from, or cringed over all day. And had been thoroughly satisfied by that aspect. Now, of all times, when she was simply MOMENTS away from ending an impeccable day, Sirius-bloody-Black was lounging in the ONE corridor NOBODY else was currently using. What are the odds of that? Not to mention, he was...
Wait, what IS he doing? She squinted, standing a mere few feet away from the boy, trying to make out his current action. Seriously. What is he doing?
Is he...sniffing? Is he actually sniffing that statue? Oh, Merlin, he HAS lost it. She cleared her through in a fashion more formal and gave a wry smile:

Uhm, Black...what in the name of Mother England are you doing?

Sirius Black - September 29, 2006 12:55 AM (GMT)
Sirius Black does not, I repeat, does not sniff statues. That's just stupid. He pokes them.

He was leaning against the wall again when Lily spoke, and he jumped up before realizing who it was. Just Lily. Not some stupid Slytherin. You know, that would have been bad, if it had been a Slytherin. Sirius, being the stupid head that he is, left his wand upstairs in his dormitory. The moron. What if Bella wandered around here, or what if the statue needed an incantation?

He grinned sheepishly when he realized how crazy this must look to Lily. Her tone (though very formal, very restrained) seemed to believe he was the craziest lunatic in the school. And it certainly looked like that. He was having a staring contest with a statue for chrissake! How wasn't that crazy, at least to and outsider's point of view?

"Hello Lily-love," Sirius said, deliberatly trying to annoy her. Lily didn't like him very much, so why should he stop annoying her? Besides, it was fun to annoy her. Almost as fun as annoying Remus. Not quite, though. Nothing is quite as fun as annoying Remus. I mean, he's just so...annoyable.

And now...how to describe to Lily what exactly it was that he was doing. Should he tell her he was looking for a secret passageway? Nah, she'd probably think him even crazier than she already did. Hmm...what to say...

"The statue sounds hollow, so I was trying to figure out what's in it," Sirius said. Which was kinda true. The statue did sound a bit hollow...

Miss Lily Evans - September 29, 2006 05:28 AM (GMT)
She restrained herself from slapping her forehead. You know the kind. When your best mate does something incredibly moronic and you just sort of go: Nice one..., and then comes that infamous hand-to-the-forehead.
But she didn't, that'd just look idiotic.

Anyways, back to the current situation.

Not only was she immensely bummed out about a day now ruined, but she had to note the fact that Sirius Black must have A.D.D. I mean, what kind of person stops in a corridor strictly to check out a seemingly hollow statue? No logic there. Then again, Lily's mind was NOTHING near the complexities of Black.

"Soo...lemme get this straight," she cleared her throat again,"You're...sniffing? No. Investigating a statue? Because it seems hollow?" She rolled her eyes. How stupid did this sound? "Sirius, let's be serious," she cracked a smile, oh, she loved that pun,"It's probably just a normal statue. There are hundreds in the school, you realize." She shouldn't even be having this conversation. No, scratch that. She just shouldn't have stopped. She should've continued on her way, ignoring Sirius and his oddities as she usually did, and ended her night peacefully. But noooo. She had to stop, and now she was engaged in a ridiculous conversation.

Oh Joy.
