Garridan - March 16, 2006 04:48 PM (GMT)
Garridan

Age: Appears to be an Older Adolescent of 25 years, but is over 100 years old
Sex: Male
Race: Dragon
Occupation: Ally to the Narnians
Appearance: His appearance is sharp and angular, typical of a dragon, with a decent muscular build. His scales are rugged, a dirt brown in color all over. His crest of scales that follow his spine are a forest green color, long and forming a sort of mohawk on the top of his head, working like drooping bangs. The scales follow down the back of his neck and stop between his shoulder blades, but a second set begin above his pelvis and go 1/3 down his long, whip-like tail. His snout is long and somewhat narrowed, formed to look like a beak but razor sharp teeth are within. His talons are black and the digits on his paws form that of like a bird, with a mildly opposible dew claw that normally faces the opposite direction of the other digits on each foot. His eyes are not as small and beady compared to other dragons, but completely black and still shining with youth and emotion. Strangely, he also carries a pair of somewhat long, pointed ears on either side of his scale crest. His most unique feature, however, are his wings. Instead of the scaly, bat-like appearence, they are a sparkling red, covered from wing tip to base with shining feathers.
Biography: Garridan was born early on in the White Witch's 100 year winter. He lived in solitary with his mother in Cauldron Pool for the first 15 years of his life, until he was old enough to care for himself and his mother left. Since, the young Garridan had lived in isolation.
Quickly becomig tired of the frigid weather that Jadis had bestowed upon the land, he waited until he was at what he thought was the appropriate age of 25 and decided to take his complaints to the White Witch, herself. Having not known his place and being a rather bold youth, Jadis turned him into stone upon their meeting.
He remained stone for the remaining 75 years of the winter, restored to life by Aslan's breath during the Battle of Beruna. Instead of helping Aslan and the Narnians in the fight, Garridan simply retreated to his home at Cauldron Pool, trying his hardest to readjust as if he never left and it proved to be extremely difficult.
Matters worsened for him when the new threat to Narnia, Augoron, had taken seige of the all the territory west of the Great and Telmar Rivers and destroying it. Being a dragon, he didn't mind it at first, but refused to join in Augoron's ranks, not wishing to be put in battle and not wanting to be put to a challenge. Because of his refusal, older, more persistant dragons invaded the small area he called home. They raided his residence, taking advantage of his youth, and stole his horde of treasure. Garridan was driven out of the only place he had known.
Seeking revenge for having what was his taken from him, Garridan now holds a grudge to Augoron and all those faithful to him. However, the only others he knew of that also wished to see Augoron defeated were the Narnians. It took Garridan a while to make up his mind, but he eventually decided to join those loyal to Aslan in the fight against the Efreeti, justifying himself by thinking he owed it to them after being revived by the Lion and they winning back the country from the icy hold of Jadis.
Personality: Garridan is normally a quiet observer, only speaking when spoken to. He's not the best at socializing, but the inquisitive nature of someone his original age can't help but explore. When given the chance, he can be friendly to those he finds deserves it, but as bitter to any other as a normal dragon would. He questions the motives of others and even himself, but one thing is certain of this uncertain creature: that his mind is filled with both the thirst for vengeance and the humbling of gratitude.
Likes: Like all dragons, he likes shiny things, but now restrains himself from hording. He enjoys tranquil forests that are untouched by cruelty and the quiet of his own company. However, he does long for the presence of others occasionally. He also enjoys eating seafood more than red meat.
Dislikes: Having what he earned taken away from him is what he despises the most.
