Isolith kneeled next to the towering birch tree. Saying goodbye had proven a much harder thing than she had even expected.
“Oh come now it won’t be nearly that long.” She said to the tree which over the length of the conversation had begun to show sings of distress.
“Now you’re just being silly! Of course I don’t want to leave you. But I have to go and help the Kings and the Queens.” She explained. She didn’t like leaving her tree any more than the tree liked the idea.
‘Sister…’ one of the younger sisters said. Isolith gave a nod. It was time for her to go.
It had been some time since she had been away from her tree it had been a long walk through the forest, but she had managed to make it to the Dancing Lawn. She knew it was a long way to the Place and even she would need to stop and rest. Lying in the soft grass of the dancing lawn Isolith fell asleep under the stars.
