Okay so here's the dealio...I simply CANNOT not comment on this ceremony!
I'm not one to blow smoke if there's no need, I tell it like it is and I'm taking this opportunity to tell this exactly how it was! The 2008 American Music Awards was SENSATIONAL! This year's AMA's are easily the best awards ceremony best I have seen in a LONG, LONG time for collaborations, performances, surprise guests and awards. I give kudos to whichever events team put it all together!
P!nk & The Band gave a blow-up performance of "Sober," (after an ahem, "ironic", intro from Scott Weiland) the live strings section lifted the song wonderfully and P!nk belted the track out giving possibly the best live performance of the second single from "Funhouse" to date. (The girls rocked their l'il dance routine & it looks like Marky Boy has had his hair coloured, V.spiffy! )
Sarah McLachlan singing "Angel" as a solo was going to beautiful regardless but to have the surprise and added bonus of P!nk come out of the shadows to perform it as a duet was nothing short of breathtaking and without a doubt the evening's perfect collaboration.
I also have to give kudos to my favourite female artist of all time, Annie Lennox who, after a spine tingling rendition of her classic "Why" , received the AMA's Special Award of Merit.
Alicia Keys with Queen Latifah & Kathleen Battle was stunning and the lyrics that were collaborated with the Alicia's track 'Superwoman' were beautiful BUT "Angel" was, in my opinion, just absolutely fabulous!
