numSlides of totalImages More than 300 families from across Colorado and surrounding states gathered in Aurora over the weekend to get help solving cold cases.
The families have lost loved ones to murder or have never found missing loved ones.
Expert law enforcement officers provided tips on how to keep their cold cases alive and talked about new technology.
It was the largest attendance the conference has seen since it began 8 years ago.
"It's pretty emotional, but at the same time, it's healing," said Shirley Guitron, whose son has been missing since 2003. "We're put together with people that are in the same boat we are. Some people have been in the boat longer. They have more experience, they can give us insight of what to do, what not to do."
Members released balloons in the courtyard of the hotel after the conference. They carried tags about the organization as well as personal notes about cold cases.
Some families hope that they might land in the hands of people who can provide that one missing link.
The conference is held every year.
