Ayotte has never been seen again. He had wandered away from his home before, but he always returned after a short time. The countryside around his home is woodsy and boggy, and some people feel that the child became lost in the area and died out of exposure. However, due to the lack of evidence in his case, it is classified as a non-family abduction.
