Writers Help
An area of the board for posting your writing woes. Need a post checking over? Need an opinion on your writing or want to help people improve with their writing? Post here! This is the area where members of Revolution Academy try to aid others in improving their writing skills. Critique is for the benefit of the members, and participants are asked to be honest when review another member's works - however, be careful to not flame as a result of honesty. We're all family, after all.

First Floor
The first floor of Revolution Academy is the place every student, faculty member, and visitor walks through. Students and staff are asked to refrain from using their powers extensively out of courtesy for any visitors that walk through the entrance doors. The decor screams antique warmth, giving a welcome glow to any person walking on the deep hardwood floors. Second Floor
Going up one of the many staircases throughout the school will lead to one of the more commonly occupied levels of the school. This is the level that houses not only the many classrooms, but also the students of the Academy. Once more, the warm, antique decor of the rest of the school continues throughout this level of the school. Atrium | Grand Ballroom | Classrooms | Language Music Room | I.T. Suite | Photography Lab

Basement
Taking a different direction this time, the basement is the first point where one would begin to notice the changes from renaissance to futuristic. Places to train and store excess items are located here, and supervision for students is highly recommended when venturing to unknown territory. Important places are located in the basement, though not all locations are meant for exploration, and varying permissions are needed for access to some places. Phoenix Plaza
A large paved square before the entrance hall of the school. At its center stands a large elegant fountain with water constantly running nearly year-round. The pipes of the fountain freeze during the cold months, and students are asked to refrain from walking on the ice when it is formed at the bottom. The smooth twists of the stone come together and peak into the form of a bird, the Phoenix, in memory of the loss the academy experienced nearly ten years ago.

Memorial Gardens
A place to come and remeber the past. It is full of beautiful plants, and rings with bird song. Many statues erected in the guise of heroes that have died litter the gardens. Some are in a state of disrepair. It is a place to go to recieve a peaceful respite from the hardships of an academy life.

Hedge Maze
A gigantic maze made of a well-kept cultivated hedge. It is a great place to go to hide from people when you are in trouble, or as another route in one's escape from society. Crevasses hidden in the maze reveal shortcuts, as well as stone benches, and niches for statues. It is not very difficult to get out of the maze, though that is only with the use of shortcuts. The short cuts are separated from regular pathways in the sense that they are simply three-foot-high holes in the brush.

Basketball Court
An extensive run of dirt and cement that serves as an area for students to play basketball and other court-like games. Lines are painted on the cement for various forms of entertainment, even for something as simple as four-square. Around the courts there are metal benches as well as walkways of grass. The courts are commonly seen as a place for males to socialize and for females to watch.

Outdoor Pool
An Olympic-sized pool is open to the residents of Revolution Academy during the warmer seasons of the year. During the winter the pool is emptied and covered. The sun glints off the water when daylight shines, and at night it steams with its warmed temperature. It can get pretty crowed during the day, depending on the weather, so students and X-Men need to pick their times that suit them the best. It is a great place for students to do laps and work up a tan during their free time.

Breakstone Lake
Located behind the school, the lake is yet another place for students and faculty to visit to get some fresh air. A small shack encloses a dock that sits at one edge of the lake. The shack houses rowboats and other varying types of equipment for swimming and boating. Field trips are often held here when there is a new batch of students. Those who cannot swim are advised to no farther than knee-deep in water.

Blackthorn Forest
A large plantation of trees held within the estate surrounds the school and acts like a dark forest. Many students find it a beneficial place to train, but in the past it has also been said to be a place where misfortune occurs. Wildlife runs freely through the brush, so don't be surprised if strange noises are heard.

Town Center
Once a bustling point of commerce, now desolate due to the opening of the Salem Mall Mega-Plex. Topping the mall, however, is a movie theatre set as the centerfold for the town center. Not many types of films play, but just enough variety to please the occasional movie-goer.

Salem Shopping Mall
Over a hundred shops lay within the mammoth four-story structure, ranging from popular fashion shops to quaint boutiques. A food court is situated in the center of the mall, its collective scent capturing every passerby. The mall is great for a simple walk, as one or two laps are sufficient for a good workout. Scanning the field for a social pick-up is also common, as there is never an absence of eye candy.

Disco 2000
The largest and most talked-about club in Salem Center, Disco 2000 is the hot spot of the area. Without a proper connection, the wait to get in could take up to a few hours. Being a mutant in the club is not uncommon, but it is ill advised as the club is not openly accepting of mutants. A massive dance floor and well-known artist fill the interior, with three bars running along the outer ring, also lined with stools and tables.

The Park
Once a usual, run-of-the-mill children’s play area, the park has long since fallen into disrepair and social decay. Swings are rusted and threaten to fall apart if weight is placed on them, and the playground looks as if it would collapse with the next windstorm. The benches seem to hold up well, though it is not a safe place once night has fallen.

The Curzon Estate
An epic housing estate set in the suburbs of Salem Center. The housing here range from mansions to apartment blocks, and fit nearly any budget. Apartment complexes seem to be the more heavily populated complexes of the Estates. This is the usual place of residence for humans living in Salem Center, or for those who do not live within the Mansion Walls.

One of the biggest and most commercial centers of America, the city has much more to offer than the tourist-filled landmarks. Located a little over an hour away from Salem Center, public transportation is a recommended way of travel, especially for those visiting from the school. District X
This neighborhood was known for its unique name, "Alphabet City", the area composed of Avenues A, B, C, and D, located in the East Village of Manhattan, New York. Unlike many spaces of its kind, however, this community was and still is heavily populated with mutants. Once covered with bustling businesses and one of the few sanctuaries for mutants, a bomb destroyed what once was. After the Mutant Fever virus swept the neighborhood, it went to shambles. It is no longer a safe place for everyone, the crime rate growing by the day.

Revolution Academy has been up and running since September 2005. Our members are dedicated to telling a story rather than just engaging in drama and we pride ourselves on giving them an environment in which they can do so. We are an intermediate board and, as such, ask for 350 words minimum per IC post. Our main aim is to provide a fun place where people can work on and, hopefully, perfect the art of writing and are more than willing to help anyone who truly wishes to improve and become part of our game. All in all we are a friendly board with friendly members and helpful staff, so if this sounds like the sort of place for you, don’t hesitate to join up or drop us a line in the c-box.
When signing up please select a first and last name and use proper capitalisation. Anything that deviates from this will be deleted without notice.
Blood is being shed, and there’s no telling who will continue standing where they initially rose. Some will change sides after a revelation, while others will remain headfast and steady. The mutants had harbored no ill will toward human kind, though there are rumors that they will longer take the insults any longer. They once desired peace and harmony, where both races could be considered as equals.
Now they want revenge.
Nights are getting longer and the days are getting colder as New York finds itself hurled into the depths of WINTER. Forecasters as predicting a particularly cold one this year with more than its fair share of snow, rain, sleet and ice that brings with it the promise of a white Christmas. But don’t forget to wrap up warm, we wouldn’t want you missing the seasonal festivities!
November 11th 2009 • The event has now closed. You can read the conclusion here. We’d like to thank everyone who took part and hope you enjoyed it. All IC event threads have been archived and can be located using the Events Index.
October 23rd 2009 • Roll Call for October/November is up! You can find the thread here. In order to fulfil the Roll Call requirements you must also reply to this thread.
October 12th 2009 • Get on those posts! The AU event is ending soon, hold tight and keep those threads running before it's too late. This is your last chance to sign-up and participate in this once-in-a-lifetime chance here at Revolution Academy. So don't miss out! Additionally, congrats to Nick Diamond in being October's Character Spotlight!

It has to be said we’ve all been eagerly watching this pair of fuzzy blue folks wondering how they’re going to cope with each other presences at the academy... And whether anyone is going to complain about all the blue fur blocking the sinks. Great work so far guys, we can’t wait to see more!
