His eyes scanned the site as the ship passed overhead. It seemed to be coming along well. It was somewhat deceptive however, there already being a structure there. It was a renovation really; rebuilding all of the major structures, replacing the equipment, and adding whatever else they needed.
He could hardly believe that this was where it all started for him. Buried and destroyed deep within the building was the machine that gave him the ability to manipulate Cortosis with his mind.
Now after years of coming to understand his strange power, he had accepted it as a part of his life and decided to embrace it, starting this company, and spread what was so important to him throughout the galaxy. His immediate motives were quite simple; make money to support his lifestyle; whether that prove to be a life of ease, maybe trying again at a family, or continueing his crusade as a vigilante for galactic justice.
The corporation would certainly help either of those ambitions. Especially the latter, giving him all the resources he needed to accomplish his goal. In another way the spreading of Cortosis through the Galaxy could help him quite immensely in his goal for galactic justice. Just how so was yet to be figured out. At least, he wasn't sure if what he had planned would work. He would think about that later though.
He circled around the island again, jsut checking a few things out. All of the workers that he could see down below were Kon'Me of this planet. He had come a long way with them as well. When he first arrived on the planet, he was the same as any other visitor; unwelcome. But after he had a run in with the Kon'Me Guard and after helping them recover from the disaster he had caused, they had come to accept him as a part of their world; a part that could never be seperated no matter what they did.

He broke his ship from its circular path and headed out over the ocean a bit. There was another island not far from the large one where research and manufacturing would be done. There too was a tunnel under construction running along the sea bed for transportation between the islands. It had a train system to quickly move personnel and supplies back and forth.
The second island came into view rather quickly. The construction process here too seemed to coming along quite nicely. It had been empty before so the building certainly seemed out of place. He felt somewhat of a sense of accomplishment for being responsible for such a transformation.
He smile crept onto his face. Soon the mining operations would start up. Resources would be stockpiled and research and development would begin. It was certainly an exciting but nerve-wracking process.

His inspection over, Castor decided to head back to his home to continue in his preparations. He punched in a few buttons and let the ship fly him back to what he had considered his home for a few years now. In some ways it was disguised as a naturally occurring outcrop of Cortosis in crystal form. But nothing about it was natural. Castor had erected it himself, a feat that he most likely would never be able to do again.
He landed his ship on the makeshift landing pad, the black paint blending right in with the structure. He opened the 'door' to the fortress, lifting a large chunk of Cortosis out of the way to reveal an opening.
He moved quickly through the living area and went downstairs, lights automatically illuminating the dark interior from within the translucent walls. The staircase ended in a hallway and Castor entered a room off to the side.
He had already begun construction on a number of items, particularly the ones that he knew most about: blades. He was working on blade and hilt designs for various styles of swords and knives. That was the easy part however. What he really needed to work on was somewhat of an experiment.
The properties of Cortosis gave it the unique property of being able to deflect light sabers. The metal is brittle however, so to be durable enough to be used as a blade, it has to be refined into an alloy, mixing it with other metals to strengthen it. However, the Cortosis ratio within the alloy was very important. If there was too much Cortosis, the swords would not hold up to attack. If there was too little, it might leave the blade susceptible to destruction by light sabers.
So a perfect balance was needed. There had to be enough Cortosis to be able to deflect a light saber but enough of the other metals to give it strength to hold up against other blades.
That was what his focus was now on.

In preparation for testing, Castor had created a number of blades with varying Cortosis ratios. He had two sets of ten blades. The first blade had 10% Cortosis content, the next 20%, increasing until 100% Cortosis ore.
There were two tests for this basic experiment. First, there was the light saber test. The Cortosis blade was locked into place while a light saber was mechanically pushed past it, connecting the blades perpendicularly.
The other test was just a test of strength. The blade was locked into place and a large weight would pushed into it, applying pressure until it broke.
Castor started with 10% Cortosis blades. The lightsaber passed right through the blade with no problem. The blade was very strong however, being able to withstand a lot of pressure before it broke.
The next blades, at 20%, were a little more resistant to the light sabers. But they delayed the cutting process by a few seconds. Due to the increase in Cortosis, the blade broke at a lower pressure point.
As Castor continued, the blades became more resistant to lightsabers and they got gradually weaker.
At 60% Cortosis, the lightsaber seemed to have no effect on the blade, but it was rather weak when pressure was applied.
At 80% the blades began to short out the lightsabers. They would flicker a bit but it wasn't until 90% that the blade would turn off the lightsaber, after a bit of flickering.
At 100% Cortosis ore, as soon as the lightsaber touched the blade, it shorted out and turned off completely, for at least a few minutes.
Castor recorded everything in a log for future research and development. Along with the many styles of blades his corporation would offer, he would also offer a custom Cortosis alloy ratio. Anything lower than 60% would be useless. Unless, of course, the user wasn't planning on fighting against lightblade wielders. But then there wouldn't be any reason to have Cortosis in the blade if one wasn't planning on defending against light blades. So the standard percentage of Cortosis would be 60.
He also got an idea for a new type of blade made specifically for disabling lightsabers. It would be a short blade, perhaps a dagger, made completely of Cortosis ore. They would, of course, be very brittle and wouldn't be able to defend against even another dagger without breaking. They would act specifically as a lightsaber disabler.
He wrote down a few notes on his pad of paper. He would develop one for himself first. And with this new found understanding of this precious metal, he would update his arsenal to better accomodate a variety of combat situations.
