Title: Art is the worst....
Takar Goraath - September 8, 2007 10:00 PM (GMT)
K, so I hate art class. I've never taken an art course before, but in order to graduate, I need a full fracking credits of it, so I have to take design this semester. It's the worst class ever, I hate it! I'm sooooooooo bad at drawing and stuff... dammit! I don't wanna deal with this. The worst part is, I'll probably not get an A at it because I'm that bad. Most retarded kids get an A, but I might not, and if I don't, I probably won't get anywhere higher than a state college, ahhh! i need scholarships and I won't get them because of art? F***!
Next semester it's jewelery which I'm actually looking forwards to... a bit... but I have to take design... man, this is not going to be a pretty report card.

I hear you. For me, art was never essential, but I did hate it. For all of one year we drew nothing but sodding BEETLES. BEETLES!!!!! WHY BEETLES???? OF ALL THE DAMN ANIMALS??? My sis had the right idea though, in her year she just traced over it, and when they were given it in the wrong size she just resized it on the computer.
Grrr... Art...

Unless you have some sort of retarted Nazi teacher, all you have to do is follow instructions; get all of the class work and home work done and you should get at least a C. It doesn't matter if you're not artistic. In my experience anyone can make art acceptable to a school teacher. A's and B's only come in when you really apply yourself. Sure, it does help to have some sort of natural talent for art but even if you have none, if you do what the teacher says you should be able to get at least a B or C.
My advice is just not to go into art class thinking that you are going to suck at whatever the teacher has you do. I've seen so many people start a piece and just give up on it. They stop using the techniques the teacher taught them and the piece looks horrible. And then they get bad grades because they didn't do what the teacher asked. The teacher doesn't care if it looks good. He just wants you to use the techniques he showed you to use. So just get all your work in on time, using the techniques shown and you should do alright.

Hey screw you to pal. ;)
I happen to enjoy art, and am in fact majoring in it, and let me tell you its not something that any retard could get an A in. UNLESS, you're talking about abstract art, I don't really enjoy that either so I would be more inclined to agree then.
(Btw, I bet your art class isn't two and a half hours long, so quit yer whinin'.)

You like art and you're good at it though.
But all in all, it's actually not that bad. Plus, there's a really really really cute freshwoman in my class, so I actually look forward to it now. lol

I know the feeling. I sit in between two girls the entire 2 1/2 hours, ones a Junior, the other a Senior. I don't care that I'm a freshmen, they're attractive.

Couldn't choose your art class? Thats too bad, if you had something like ceramics to take, there's an easy grade of C or higher.

In most high schools there is only one or two art classes divided by experience level and they do everything to an extent. In College (and some high schools) they have specific classes for specific disciplines like pottery, painting, drawing, etc.

Would that be a difference between public or private highschools?

Probably, I wouldn't know as I went to a public high school.
Takar Goraath - September 14, 2007 11:51 PM (GMT)
I am not interested in a C. I'd rather fail utterly.
We have a kagillion art classes, but I'm taking an intro to art class, basically a general overview of the art department at our school. It's pretty ga.... nvrmind. lol
Janos Ithorik - September 15, 2007 04:32 AM (GMT)
Yup, thats the problem. Intro to art. Not a very good course anyways. I may have only taken a few art classes in high school, but I didn't care for most of my ItA class. There were the few exceptions to what I learned, but I sucked at the rest. (some drawing & ceramics were strong points for me.)

See this is why i dropped art...
Whyit - September 15, 2007 03:56 PM (GMT)
for that credit we got a choice from music, art, and drama (canadain schools are prolly different then what your guys do)
anyway since I can only draw stick people and the only thing I can act like is a retard that crossed out drama and art. I took the music credit and honestly my teacher was a nazi/slightly racesit. Even though I had 8 years pinao exp he wouldn't let me do it. So I took drums figureing how hard can banging something be? Well I was good I had a 90% in the class. Then the teacher got mad because I went on a vacation half way through the class and began doing things to drop my grade, mainly making me play tests first (which was an issue since I couldn't really bring the drum home to practice and the only way I'd know the rhythm was by watching the more experienced drummers).
by the end of the year he dropped my to a 60% even though a aced my theory exam. the was mark was complete bogus, when I asked him to show me what I did wronge he couldn't because he didn't have a marking sheet. He just listened to the piece and decided what he would give me for it.
So the only thing I know is my mark went down around the time he didn't like me anymore the only conclusion I can come to is that my mark was influenced more on his opinion of me then my playing skillz.
never taking music again

I'm with you Altir. I enjoy art and majoring in art as well. Still, i have to agree with you all. It ain't as fun and easy as it seems to be. Personally, i cannot concentrate in a classroom full of chattering bigots and kiss asses going "omg.. that vase is sooo awesome." or "look at my drawing mrs. so and so. isn't just soo cool? i even added the extra credit here!" *gags*
Secondly, most of the art teachers I've haven't been very useful to me. They do not allow us to do what we want. We must follow the curriculum and draw what they order us to. Me being forced to draw something = extremely boring and a major turn off. Art is originally supposed to be about what YOU wanna do. The teachers are supposed to be there to give you feedback and help you along.
Sadly, the only cute girls in my class are the bloody skanks. *sighs heavily*

Yeah, plus the grading is really not as solid as other subjects. Grading in art is subjective and based on less solid bases. What I mean is, for example in mathematics 2+2=4 no matter if the teacher likes that or not. But in art, the teacher can like your piece or not which will effect how they look at it, not fair no, but that's the way it is.
