Title: Race Across the Galaxy
Description: It's a Race!

Vaneris - January 29, 2008 02:18 AM (GMT)
Ok, I'm posting the basic idea right now to guage how intrested people are in something like this, and I'll fill in all the details a bit later, but this is the idea so far.

The Race would start on Mon Cal and end on Bakura with several stops along the way. You are required to stop on these planets, land on the surface, and reach a certian point on the planet before you can proceed. Once you have reached this point on all these planets (most likely 4 or 5 different ones) you proceed to Bakura for the final part of the race.

Everyone will start at the same time, from the same place, with the same INITIAL resources. Take special note of the word INITIAL. Everyone starts out with the same stuff, but what you get from there is your business. There is only one rule to the compitition, and that is that there will be no outside involvement. You may form teams after the race has started, but remember there will be only ONE winner.

Lastly, as far as prizes go, I was thinking a specialy reasearched ship that is quite fast, both normally and in hyperspace and there will also be some $$ involved.

That's basicly it, if you're intrested post, if not, you're probably not reading this far anyway.

I'll probably give it a shot. How about we sign up Adel Sin and Yomin Jammaane?

Takar Goraath - January 29, 2008 01:43 PM (GMT)
You can't drag me into this! Haha! I'm safe in my little locker! I know you're out there fishy, just waiting to chop me up into little bits of fish food! You won't get to me! There's a solid inch of durasteel between me and you! This subplot is not going to work, I know it! Some n00b will be like, I have the fastest ship in the galaxy, you lose! and then I'll be left floating in space! But I won't! I'm safe in my locker! You can't get to me!

Count me outta dis one.

Layne Messiah - January 29, 2008 06:51 PM (GMT)
as Tak said. Count me out.

Lord Walker - February 16, 2008 01:13 AM (GMT)
Heck, I need something to get me more active around here, so I'm game.

Dyne - February 16, 2008 01:33 AM (GMT)
Think of a reason for this happening though, I mean IC. OOC we know we all just want something to do, but IC it needs to have a purpose. Perhaps the organizer of said race just wants to be entertained? Or maybe it's a government sponsored thing for publicity? Etc.

Lord Walker - February 16, 2008 01:37 AM (GMT)
Well, just off the top of my head, maybe someone is in need of some really good pilots and figures that this will be a good chance of getting quite a few. After all, even if they don't win, if they catch his interest, they get a job! Plus, he can be entertained by watching the "audition". Two birds with one stone.

I don't know who would be in need of pilots though. I'm still kinda new to the site. Maybe the Hutts or another crime group? Or maybe one of the larger organizations?

Kanjin - February 16, 2008 02:33 AM (GMT)
I'm game. I even have a good character already for it.

Lord Walker - February 16, 2008 03:13 AM (GMT)
So, when do we start this thing up? I have nothing but time right now.

Ryan Archgana - February 16, 2008 09:53 AM (GMT)
Well I would like to give it a try since I just came up with a couple of nice ideas but I am gone as soon as there is too many godmodding involved.

I guess I join with Ryan Archgana and his two npc's.

Realy, this is a good idea, but the thing you need to ensure is that everyone adheres to the fact they all have the exact same resources except probably the amount of credits each person has. But i think the race is more based on what the people do on each planet. You have to give different routes, different challenges to get to the "nav markers" for the race. Make each part equally difficult for them all, but also make it a bit more interesting. Like of course the first to touch the beacon will be the first off planet, but as they reach the next planet they're presented more obstacles to even it out a bit. See what I mean?

Dyne - February 16, 2008 11:02 AM (GMT)
I suggest you also have a minimum post number and/or length requirement before someone can reach the next "marker" for lack of a better term, so that way someone doesn't just type up one long post where they do like three planets in one.

But just remember, the moderation team is here for a reason, if someone violates whatever rules you set up for this, just report it and we will sort it out.

Lord Walker - February 16, 2008 04:19 PM (GMT)
Heck, who's in charge of this thing anyway? Anyhow, I was thinking about this for most of the night, and I came up with a few ideas. Feel free to shoot any of them down, but it's just what I came up with.

1. The race starts at Ord Radama, each racer is required to take a crate and get to the next planet.

2. From Ord Radama, the next relay point is Ossus. You'll have to land at the designated area, unload your cargo, and you and your crew must head to find the relay in some ancient ruins about 15 km away. (Everybody will have different instructions to reach said coordinates, so each adventure will be different).

3. Return to your ship, which has your new crate loaded, and move to the third planet, Gand. (Make sure that you have breathing equipment here.) The obstacle for this one is that you must locate a particular findsman, by following the directions provided. He will give you the coordinates to your next planet.

4. From Gand, we will go to Kubindi. This time, there's no real obstacle, just land, get your cargo and leave. The obstacle comes after.

5. You are to plot a course to Nar Shaddaa, the final point of the maze. However, there is one requirement, the course you take must take is to be a part of the Kessel Run. That's right, you have to fly through the Maw and the Pit.

6. First one to Nar Shaddaa wins.

As to rules, I did some thinking, and here's what I came up with:
1. Each contestant will be given an armored backpack that contains one field kit. There will be a small store at each stop with limited supplies. You can purchase up to three items from this store, first come-first serve.

2. Expect a few surprises set up in space, be it pirates, customs officials, exploding asteroids, or even a ship malfunction. I'll leave that to whoever wants to RP as the host of this event.

3. You can't skip planets! No hovering over Gand so you can sack someone who just finished it, steal their cargo and go to the next point. You have to make it to each check point. However, feel free to shoot people once you've finished your stop.

4. At each stop that requires leaving the ship, all crew members must leave. This includes droids as well! That's right, you are to leave your ship unsupervised. However, there will be guards, hired by the host that will make sure no other contestants try to sabotage each others ships.

Well, that was all I came up with. So, we really just need to find someone to RP as the events host and set a word length for each post. I have no idea what most people could be comfortable with, but I was thinking a minimum of 5-700 for each planet.

Anyhow, let me know what you think.

BloodFury - February 16, 2008 06:54 PM (GMT)
Rhen Var wouldn't work. It is gone. It got blown to bits, last summer.

Zorrix - February 16, 2008 07:03 PM (GMT)
Okay, I want in.

Vaneris - March 8, 2008 11:49 PM (GMT)
wow did NOT notice all these replies until now. Alrighty, I'll see what I can come up with then and I'll post it up as soon as I can, though it seems like walker has it down pretty well already.

Cha Roni - March 8, 2008 11:58 PM (GMT)
Walker, you just gotta change Rhen Var to something else. Perhaps Raxus or Ossus.

Lord Walker - March 9, 2008 12:00 AM (GMT)
Nah, I was just throwing ideas out. It seems much more likely that the race would be in a certain sector, where the host of said race would have greater control of the events.

Like I said, I was just shooting ideas out there, trying to see what people liked. Feel free to use them though.

Well, let me see what's on those other planets...I hate being new to a site. Ya'll go around destroying planets and I don't know about it. The problem is respect, you young kids have no respect for canon environments.

I think I'll replace Rhen Var with Ossus. It has ancient ruins on it, doesn't it? Yeah, I think it does.

Cha Roni - March 9, 2008 12:02 AM (GMT)
I actually your idea, Walker. I vote we use it, but I'm not going to race in it.

Hmm, perhaps we can gave regional or sector hosts and then one big host that controls those, you know, to keep everything under control in a certain region.
