After the devastation, that occured on the world of Mon Calamari, the Senate gathered. As always, each members view differed from the others. Both Military and Political officals gathered to discuss the Jedi Order.
Should they be banned from Republic Space, or left alone?
Kalen Amass, the Jedi GrandMaster, made an appearance and had this to say...
"What my esteemed members of the Senate forget first and foremost is this. We are no longer servants of the Republic, you made sure of that when you ordered the attack and erradication of the Jedi with Pattin's command. That command was given with the full authority of this governing body and only after we were disassociated with the Republic and all but extinct was it called off. We have never resolved that and therefore are not a part of your Republic. The only ties currently possesed by the Jedi Order and its Council are to the Force and our code, nothing more and nothing less. We had an arrangement with the Mon Calamari government to reside on the planet in our Temple not to stand trial under your scrutenization."
"You ask why our precognition did not allow us insight to the attack of the Sith. Well I will take suggestions from those of you more Force sensitive than myself or this Council. We would appreciate your insight and your lessons on how to better understand it. You ask why we did not spring into action to strike down the foe without harm befalling an innocent. I appologize that our numbers have been left ruined fighting your wars, then surviving your persecution, and then yet again fighting for you on Coruscant against the Grey Alliance. And, as I'm sure your Admirals and Intelligence Staff will enlighen you to, charging blindly into a battle with no reconnisance and well outnumbered you are sure to face a poorer end than we did.
We fought as best we could and saved as many as was within our power. Children a third of your age stood in defiance and gave their life so that one more father could go home, one more child will have his life and one more mother will embrace her babe. If that is not enough and it warrants us being banned from your space then that is your descision, but know that we are not servants of the Republic or your fickle corrupt will. Debate that as you will and call it what treason you find suitable, but know it was your doing and not our own.
You may banish us, and you may hunt us, throwing accusations and presecuting at will from the safety our your senate building. You may do all these things and when the Sith, the Mandalorians, the Vong, when whatever it is comes for you...we will stand at the front lines in between them and you. Not for you, but for those that you 'serve' because they need protection and that is what we give."
"Make what decisions you will, but I nor the children who gave their lives for you will suffer your indignation. If you bannish us from Republic space then you will never again see us in that space, and reap that which comes from it."
After members debated amongst themselves, it was finally decided that the former Guardians of the New Republic, be left alone. And not to be banished from Republic Space. Much to the relief of many, yet the disapointment to others.
