Title: Escaflowne Shoujo or Shounen?

I have ben wondering this because there is a fair bit of romance yet a good amount of fighting as well so what do you guys think and please tell me why so that i may beter figure out this problem

I say shoujo because of the way it ends.... you cant end it like that and call it shounen!

No, its technically a shounen. It was created for a male audiance. Shounen can have romance...I mean, Love Hina is a shounen XD

Still, the basic idea is fighting and whatnot. The end doesn't make a differance. Elfen Lied with shounen, and its ending was that of a tragic romance story
