Damm evil scammers. :( :angry:
I'm posting this partly to vent whine and winge and partly to warn people that no matter how long you've been on neopets or how expeirienced you are you can still get scammed/ ripped off / conned if you don't stay alert.
I was buying bits of the petpet lab map for approx 5200 neopoints each in user shops. Flicking back and forth between shops and my items to check which bits I already had. I was trying to save a few hundred nps by getting bits for about 5000 instead of 5200 or more.
Went into one shop where they had several different pieces priced at 5099 each. but failed to notice that one bit was priced at 50,099 and cos of not double checking I clicked ok buy it and then thought oh shit, argh it was too late to stop the purchase. I'm convinced that the user did this as a deliberate scam. :angry:
I reported the shop to tnt explaining what had happened, I have no hope of getting my nps back but maybe they will do something, I don't know. I doubt it somehow.
I'm really pissed off, and my first inclination was to neomail the person calling them a few rude names, but I decided that would be pointless and undignified. And could get me banned. I also had thoughts of vengance, but it really isnt my style, so I'll just think evil thoughts of them for a while. :angry:
What really sickens me is the thought of some evil scammer luaghing to themselves that some one got conned. I hate scammers.
I'm on another pet site and on that pet site ( which is much smaller than neopets) the other users will often post and warn people about known scammers, and unlike neopets this is allowed. I don't know if this would work on neopets, since people could just accuse others unfairly, but maybe it could work if it was run by trusted users or moderators, have a wall of shame of scammers so people know to avoid their shops.
Anyway, just remember no matter how long you've been on neopets if you dont stay alert you can get scammed. I mean I KNEW that people sometimes tried tricks like this, I'd read all the warnnings and I still fell for it, hell I'm mad at me too, *kicks self*
