A good definition for the spam for forum purposes...
| QUOTE |
Newsgroup spam predates e-mail spam, and targets Usenet newsgroups. Old Usenet convention defines spamming as excessive multiple posting, that is, the repeated posting of a message (or substantially similar messages). Since posting to newsgroups is nearly as easy as sending e-mails, newsgroups are a popular target of spammers. The Breidbart Index was developed to provide an objective measure of the "spamminess" of a multi-posted or cross-posted message on Usenet.
Spamming an internet forum in general, is when a user posts something which is off-topic or doesn’t have anything to do with the current subject. Also, a post that doesn’t contribute to the thread whatsoever is also considered spam in some cases. A third form of Forum Spamming is where a person repeatedly posts about a certain subject in a manner that is unwanted by (and possibly annoying to) the general population of the forum. Lastly there is also the case where a person posts messages solely for the purpose of increasing his or her ranking on the forum. In a broader sense, advertising on forums where it is not wanted is known as spamming and is generally seen as an annoyance. |
:nono: thus spam = no no
I'll be forgiving on it, but I don't want to see it a second time if I give you a warning. I know not everyone does it intentionally thinking of it as spam, but it IS annoying, especially for those who created the topics. Spam is more than just an unwanted advertisement junk mail. If you have time to spam messages, then spend it reading and responding to more messages. There really isn't a good excuse for it.
If you want to post random, pointless messages, then feel free to do it in the chat in an already pointless topic (or better yet, create your own! ^_^ ) If you just wanted to shake the forums up for being so slow... rebel by being an example and RESPONDING to a mass amount of topics.
RULE OF THUMB FOR OLD TOPICS: If topis are still relevent, I don't mind people ressurrecting an old thread (in many forums this is frowned on). This is a slow moving forum right now. Posting in something that is no longer relevent (a birthday topic for example) would be uncalled for.
LANGUAGE: I hope this is an assumed rule, but keep language down to a minumum. The F* word won't be tolerated.
PG-13: Please keep forum topics and posts down to a PG-13 level! This includes signatures and/or pictures. When in doubt, leave it out.
SPOILERS: As there will be lots of anime or manga discussion, I will try and make this clear. Spoilers are find, but PLEASE put a spoiler warning in the title of the topic if you know there is or will be spoilers. If it's just an individual post, just say spoiler warning and white out the text (that way, if people want to see it they only need to select the text).
I'll eventually make up an official rules post and this will be part of it, but for now I'm posting it here. If you have any other good thoughts for rules to be added, please share them. :)
No need to yell I won't do it again!!!
I promise!!
LOVE AND DA PEACE SA!!!

Damn, you just ensured that Shane's never coming back. :P
I've nicknamed him SpoilerBoy because he has that natural tendency to tell you how your favorite series ends!
lol yes he does. All he needs to do though is give a warning that there's a spoiler or white it out.
Wait.... SO you mean to tell me that I can't say f-

*Cough Cough* Ugh Noted!
