Rant, Rave, and Debate Rules

This forum is for those who wish to rant, or debate, about various topics. Please respect other people's thoughts and ideas. Just because they don't have the same views as you, that dosen't mean they are wrong; that simply means they have different views! Sometimes when ranting or debating people tend to get a bit hot-headed. Please understand that sometimes people just need to "get it off their chest". Please, try and be mature when posting. I encourage intelligent debates, but not flame wars!

~To prevent problems, and angry parents, you will not be able to join SFU if you are under the age of 13. SFU has adult language, topics, and members. If you are found to be lying about your age, you will be automatically banned. You have been warned.

My name is Mad_But_Happy (call me “Anna”) Don’t hesitate to chat with me when you feel the need to. There are a few rules that I have laid out for you guys, so I intend on educating you all on these rules and maintaining a fun and friendly atmosphere for everyone to chat in!

1) Very often at SFU, threads go off-topic. While usually this is not a problem, sometimes it is a better idea to take your discussion, and make a new thread. Please respect the requests of the thread-starter/mods if they ask you to get back on topic.

2) Make sure you post your threads in the correct forum! If you are not sure where to put it, ask an admin or mod.

3) Double posting is ok once and a while, but I would prefer for you all to just use the “edit” button. Try to condense your thoughts into a single post. If you do double post, make it a new and relevant thought.

4) Flaming is strictly prohibited. Rude, racist, belittling, and other ill mannered comments are not allowed in this forum. Furthermore, do not post rude, racist, or any other ill mannered comments randomly. Even if your comments are not directed at someone, the comments share the same content and will also be dealt with appropriately. This includes political opinions, religions, video game tastes, career choices, musical tastes, and other such things.

5) Please, don’t be a troll. Flamebaiting is unacceptable. If someone irks you do not call them names, swear at them, or attempt to get them to flame you in retaliation. If you argue, please do so in a calm, mature manner. If you feel it necessary, contact me and I will help you solve the problem appropriately. Do not put people down, or try and belittle them. I know not everyone will get along with each other, but not liking someone/something does not justify starting a flame war. In short… be mature.

6) Multiple accounts are just plain stupid. If you want to change your screen name, or something, let me know; I can go change it for you. There’s no need to make a whole new account. If you have a family member or friend using the same computer as you, let me know beforehand!

7) I will let you all swear, but unnecessary and excessive language is not allowed. Try and keep it PG-13, please.

8) Porn, yiff, hentai, yaoi, etc. is NOT permitted anytime, anywhere.

9) Please. If you want to advertise your site, do so in the spam forum!

10) Try not upload files directly onto the forum. Please try and link to another site. (Ex. Photobucket or Imageshack)

11) Please use proper English when posting. I'm not expecting your grammar to be perfect, but please make sure we can understand what you're saying. Spellcheck is your friend.

12) I will not, by any means, allow "forum drama" at SFU. Keep your personal arguments personal. I don't care who said what about your girlfriend on MSN, and I doubt the other members do either. If you are receiving offensive private messages, or something, let me know. Otherwise, all threads containing private arguments will be closed without warning.

13) Gravedigging is only allowed if you have something truly important to add to the conversation. Otherwise, leave dead threads dead.

On a final note: Common sense is a great and powerful thing. Please, use this power to the best of your abilities. I try to be fair, and friendly, at all times. I do not play “favorites”. I am willing to chat with any and all of you at any given time. Please, consider me a friend and fellow member! But if you act up, do not expect me to let it slide.
