This is very interesting considering his son's comments on 9/11 recently which I believe may be part of the sacrificing of Bush by the Jesuits as yet another used person in the Jesuit theatre show. Now when you consider the importance of Fordham University which in the Americas is only second to the almighty Georgetown University it gets interesting. Fordham monitor and oversee the almighty Prince of the Americas, Archbishop Edward Egan the leader of the Americas Sovereign Military of Malta. What I also found funny was that one of Charlie's films was "Red Dawn" where these teenagers help fight a Russian invasion of parts of the U.S. Now when you consider this is a Jesuit plan for the U.S in the future but with the Chinese toeing along using Cuba as a launch pad thanks to Roman Catholic and Jesuit trained Fidel Castro, maybe its a covert sign. Martin and Charlie are both Roman Catholics. BERKELEY -- Peace-loving activists throughout Northern California were stunned and deeply saddened by the sudden death Monday of Catholic priest Bill O'Donnell, who spent his life standing up for causes when others looked the other way. He was 73.
O'Donnell was at his desk writing a homily at St. Joseph's the Worker Catholic Church in Berkeley when he apparently died of a heart attack, the church reported. He had undergone coronary bypass about 10 years ago. On his desk was the book "The Violence of Love," by Archbishop Oscar Romero of El Salvador.
O'Donnell's Irish wit and outspoken truth-telling earned him cheers from common people to celebrities, including Hollywood actor Martin Sheen of "West Wing" fame, a close friend.
"Bill is one of the scariest people I know because he makes us tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, all the time. He takes the cup as it is offered, not altered," Sheen once said about his friend. Many of his legions of friends regarded O'Donnell as the "saint of Berkeley" for his almost 250 arrests at protests, which inclu-ded marching with farm work-ers along with Csar Chvez.
Most recently, at Fort Benning, Ga., O'Donnell and 10,000 other protesters tried to shut down the controversial School of the Americas. They say the school teaches terrorist tactics on behalf of dictators, a charge the school denies.
O'Donnell also participated in repeated demonstrations at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, for which he once spent a week in Santa Rita Jail. During one protest, his arm was broken by a police officer, friends noted.
It was less well known that O'Donnell was born in Livermore, attended St. Michael's church and school there and came from a large Irish family who were farmers. He told friends his Irish mother, Maude Regan O'Donnell, was the "one who inspired me."
For trespassing on Fort Benning's federal property in November 2002 he was sentenced to six months in Atwater Federal Penitentiary. Within weeks, O'Donnell had formed a study group in prison on non-violence and was in frequent touch with the Catholic community in Atwater.
He had so many requests for visitors, his sister, Mary O'Donnell, called herself his appointment secretary.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 15 at St. Joseph's the Worker, 1640 Addison St., Berkeley.
A community gathering in his memory is being planned for Sunday by Mayor Tom Bates' office at a location to be announced.
This past March, a week after his release, he joined a demonstration blocking traffic in the San Francisco financial district against the war in Iraq and was arrested again. He was not jailed.
Last month, O'Donnell made his annual pilgrimage to the School of the Americas but promised before he left he wouldn't trespass on federal property again because being in prison took so much time from his other activism.
He worked closely with Berkeley physician Dr. Davida Coady, who runs a drug diversion program for addicts. The two friends were principals in the San Carlos Foundation, which funds interns in Central and South American villages, similar to the Peace Corps.
Coady was shaken when she heard about his death because he had talked to her earlier in the morning after saying Mass and having breakfast.
"It's such a loss to all of us," she said. "Such a terrible loss."
While O'Donnell wasn't always associated with activism, the seeds were there waiting for something to bring them to life, he once said. At first he challenged the church itself but found his real life mission was with the labor, civil rights and peace movements.
After graduation from St. Joseph's College, Menlo Park, in June 1950, he went to St. Patrick's Seminary there and graduated in June 1956. He was ordained in St. Mary's Cathedral, San Francisco, when Oakland was part of the San Francisco Diocese.
His first parish was St. Jarlath's in Oakland's Dimond district where he was assistant pastor from 1956 to 1963. From there, O'Donnell was sent to Corpus Christi Church in Piedmont from 1963-1965; St. Joseph's in Alameda, 1965-1966; St. Joachim, Hayward, 1966-1969; and Sacred Heart, Oakland, 1969-1973.
He once told a reporter he was "kicked out" of three parishes before finding his rightful home. That was his assignment in 1973 to St. Joseph's, which at the time was known as St. Joseph's the Workman. O'Donnell as assistant pastor was instrumental in "de-gendering" the name to St. Joseph the Worker, to honor the work of women as well as men.
He was pastor there through August 1995 and chose to become associate pastor to allow more time for his activism. Present pastor, the Rev. George Crespin, and O'Donnell were fast friends, as was recently retired Bishop John Cummmins, who always stood by O'Donnell, sometimes in shock and awe but with an all-knowing smile. |

Fr Michael Kennedy SJ, pastor at Dolores Mission Church in Los Angeles, and Martin Sheen, who plays President Josiah Bartlet on the NBC drama "The West Wing," talked about their spirituality at the Religious Education Congress sponsored by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
The two men--friends since the mid-1980s--have teamed up on a new book, "The Jesus Meditations: A Guide for Contemplation," featuring Fr Kennedy's meditations based on Ignatian spirituality and Sheen's voice-over on a companion CD.
Prayer, oil, and ritual, in combination, create a powerful message of healing, Fr Kennedy said. He hopes his meditations help teachers, youth ministers, and those involved in adult education to use Ignatian meditation in their prayer groups and retreats.
Fr Kennedy credits prayer with saving his life. While delivering medicines to the poor of El Salvador, he and others were apprehended by the Salvadoran military, which was known for employing torture tactics. Fr Kennedy assumed they would never be released alive.
But he turned to prayer and found the peace that comes from "knowing God is present in the darkest moments." And it was from that sense that Fr Kennedy was able to talk his would-be torturers into setting him and the group free.
Sheen said he began to be formed more deeply in his faith when he met the New York Jesuit community, particularly Fr Daniel Berrigan. And following a health crisis while filming "Apocalypse Now" and a bout with alcoholism, he said, he began to more fully embrace his faith.

Acclaimed actor Martin Sheen was the guest speaker and received an honorary doctor of letters degree when Marquette University dedicated the new John P. Raynor, S.J., Library recently.
It would be fair to say that Sheen’s speech made some in the audience uncomfortable as the actor focused on a variety of social justice issues in an uncompromising fashion.
A Catholic, Sheen works tirelessly as a humanitarian and social activist. He credits the Catholic Worker Hospitality House in New York, operated by Dorothy Day, with helping him through a period of poverty as a young person. Day and the people associated with the Catholic Worker Movement had a profound effect on him. Sheen has been a supporter of their efforts ever since.
The $55 million library is named in honor of the Rev. John P. Raynor, S.J., who served as president of Marquette from 1965 to 1990. Sheen, an award-winning actor, director and producer, is currently a cast member of the Emmy Award-winning NBC television drama The West Wing, where he portrays President Josiah Bartlet.
Marquette University preserves the archives of Dorothy Day and the Catholic Worker Movement, now housed in a state-of-the-art archive facility in the new Raynor Library. Marquette’s Department of Special Collections and University Archives has held the Dorothy Day-Catholic Worker Collection since the 1960s as part of its mission to collect in the areas of Catholic social action.
Sheen’s acting roles include portraying Peter Maurin (one of the founders of the Catholic Worker Movement) and Mitch Snyder (a Vietnam veteran who fought for America’s homeless by staging hunger strikes and protesting various government agencies).
Off screen, Sheen promotes social justice as a parish volunteer in soup kitchens and youth programs, as a nonviolent demonstrator against activities such as nuclear testing and the former School of the Americas at Fort Benning, Ga., and as spokesperson for such causes as the United Farm Workers and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. |

2TUFF, you are absolutely correct about Martin Sheen and his Jesuit connections. I saw the picture in VA outside of a Jesuit retreat house in Pennsylvania. Sheen is also connected with the Socialist-Communist Maryknolls who controlled by the Jesuits. I believe Temporal Coadjutor Roy Bourgeois of the Jesuit-controlled CIA's School of the Americas Watch [agitation] is an undercover Jesuit I have no doubt his son is in on it too. Martin Sheen speaks at big event at Catholic San Diego University. The University of San Diego is a Roman Catholic institution, founded by the Most Reverend Charles F. Buddy, first bishop of the Diocese of San Diego, and Mother Rosalie Hill, superior vicar of the Society of the Sacred Heart.Of Course the Kroc they are referring to is Joan B Kroc, third wife of McDonalds CEO Ray Kroc.
