Title: Dvd, Depression, Video Happy
devilsdaughter-65 - April 21, 2006 08:02 PM (GMT)
Well. I've just been watching the video from the studio and have to say it was as interesting and exciting to watch as it was on the night.
This will probably bore the pants off you, but i have to tell you anyway. I was watching morrissey on dvd the other week (who put the m in manchester) which was fantastic, but god it made me feel old. The first time i saw the smiths was March 23rd 1985 at middlesbrough town hall. James were the support group. I give birth to my daughter Jane 2 and a half weeks later. She's just turned 21. So you can imagine it sent me into a bit of depression. But then i thought to myself, if i played it again with my eyes shut, maybe i'd feel better. So that's what i did. All the memories of march 23rd came flooding back, and the fact that morrissey sounds as good now as he did then did wonders for my depression.
All i need to make me even happier, is to know when you guys are back up this way.

Hi Lynne,
Firstly thanks for the photos that you sent. We will try and get some onto the site. As they were taken some distance from the stage we might need to do some trickery pokery with some software.
So, there's a video from the Studio? I'd love a copy (I seem to recall we were promised one but it never arrived). Could you see if a copy is available for us. If so, please send me an email and I will give you a postal address.
I happened to have watched the "M in Manchester" DVD last night - my word it's good - but I'm with you on the making one feel old - especially when he played "The Headmaster Ritual" - I remember hearing that for the first time as a 15 year old. I'm lucky - no one believes I was old enough to have seen The Smiths live (as I did at the Palladium and Brixton) in 1986!
We should be back at the Studio in the Autumn - rumour has it for two nights running! Thanks for your support.
Graham.

Hi Graham.
My friend can copy videos, so i'll get one sorted for you. The only thing that gutted me was so far through there is a light, (my favourite, as you will hear on the video my big mouth shouting for it). it goes off. But not to worry it's still great.
My mate Simon (watto). I think you were talking to him at the spot. He was with emma, used to take the micky out of me for being a smiths fan, but once i tortured him while he was at my house, he now thinks there great too. I'll have to say hello next time your up here, and if you are so kind as to take pitty on me, you might even find it in your heart to dedicate there is a light to me. I'll try to leave my zimmer frame at home.
Look forward to seeing you all again (twice).
Lynne

PS. Next time i'll bring my good camera, and make sure i get some good ones a bit closer. If you's give me the goahead, i'll get on the stage out of your way and take some of the crowd. I'll need to get on the stage as i'm only 4ft 10 and wont stand a chance otherwise.
