Title: I'd Feel More Fulfilled...
Pete Hayles - August 8, 2005 04:20 PM (GMT)
...if you played Frankly, Mr. Shankly and I'll definitely be rude and cruel to you if you don't play You Just Haven't Earned It Yet, Baby.
;)
Graham - August 9, 2005 12:16 PM (GMT)
Hi Pete, Thanks for dropping by.
Let me assure you that Mr Shankly is on his way. Next year we shall be celebrating the 20th anniversary of "The Queen is Dead" by playing the whole album live. As for "You Just haven't"...have we earned it yet?
I've just re-discovered "The Boy Racer" from "Southpaw Grammar". My God - that song is "too good looking" - I think we might have to slip that one in soon - anyone agree?
Graham of The Smyths.

Hilarious reply Pete. Hilarious. Are you going to Quarry on Saturday? E and I are, as is Will.
Pete Hayles - August 12, 2005 05:11 AM (GMT)
Sorry mate but I'm out Saturday night. Me and the fat ugly pony-tailed one* will be at Putney Sunday week though.
* Well he ain't gonna see me call him that without an internet connection, is he?!!!
simonm - August 17, 2005 09:09 PM (GMT)
Hi Graham
I wholeheartedly welcome an appearance from the "The Boy Racer" at your earliest convenience.....a forgotten classic I fear.
And some Dallow, Spicer, Pinkie et al wouldn't go amiss!
Looking forward to Sunday.
Cheers
Simon :P
Graham - August 18, 2005 12:23 PM (GMT)
Hello Simon,
I'm glad "The Boy Racer" finds favour with you. I must issue an ultimatum to the boys regarding getting the song in soon. I wholeheartedly agree with your other suggestion...I am longing to sing that song. I can tell you that we have been asked by Frank Sidebottom to play "Don't make fun of daddy's voice" for the November show which Mr Sidebottom is supporting us on. He wishes to join us on stage for that song..the pleasure will be mine, all mine.
So, that would be three new Morrissey tracks...we'll need some new Smiths too. Any requests?

Erm, see my opening post! ;)

Pete - didn't my reply suggest that Mr Shankly will arrive in 2006?

Yes indeed, but my opening post had two requests. I'd say you've earned it. How about I Started Something...? I agree that The Boy Racer would be great live. 'Tis a cracking song.
comptons - September 3, 2005 04:33 PM (GMT)
How about Mute Witness? A very under appreciated Morrissey song. But I would also welcome Boy Racer and perhaps Speedway.
goodhorse - September 3, 2005 05:03 PM (GMT)
There are too many songs to mention that I think would be good to add.. I'm going to be in attendance in Hartlepool tonight and can't wait! You can't please anyone, and I think new songs/direction should be chosen by the band, not the fans, whatever the artists feel fit. And besides, most of the Smiths and Morrissey fans like the entire back catalogue of songs, so there's no going wrong really.. Although I still feel that Last Night is a major miss that you have :)
linrob9495 - September 3, 2005 06:38 PM (GMT)
oooh more smiths requests - where would we start
The Headmaster Ritual
Paint A Vulgar PIcture
Jeane
Paint A Vulgar Picture
The Hand That Rocks The Cradle
Paint A Vulgar Picture
in fact any song, but especially Paint A Vulgar Picture on a wet night in Glasgow
Gannon Smyth - September 5, 2005 06:06 PM (GMT)
As Graham has already said next June it will be 20 years of the release of the Queen is Dead (seems like only yesterday!) and we hope to do 1 or 2 special anniverary gigs so we'll be doing all the songs from that album. We've done most of the songs off that album already but I'm really looking forward to doing Some Girls Are Bigger & I Know It's Over (my favourite song from that album).
There are bloody loads more songs that I'd like us to do, in time hopefully we can play every Smiths song (except Golden Lights!!)
A few I'd like us to play.....
Stretch Out & Wait
What She Said
I Want the One I Can't Have
Stop Me If You Think
You Just Haven't Earnt It Yet Baby
and some Morrissey ones.....
I Have Forgiven Jesus
This World is Full of Crashing Bores
Sunny
Billy Budd
The Lazy Sunbathers
Boy Racer
Satan Rejected My Soul
and I'm probably on my own on this one but I'm a huge fan of Pregnant for the Last Time.
cheers, Chris (Craig Gannon Smyth)
PS to lionrob, we often play Headmaster Ritual but didn't have time to fit it in on Friday, next time we're in Glasgow shout out for it. Reading between the lines I get the strange idea that you'd like us to play Paint a Vulgar Picture too, good call.

Chief - November 26, 2006 12:55 AM (GMT)
Saw you on Friday night in Hartlepool. Took me back 20 years to seeing the smiths at Middlesbrough town hall.
Couple of ideas for "different" tracks :
Jean (acoustic - as per the sandie shaw version)
Whats the World (james track done live periodically by the smiths).
Keep up the good work.
Richard W - December 6, 2006 12:16 PM (GMT)
For me:
Still Ill
Girl Afraid
Barbarism Begins At Home
Graham - December 7, 2006 03:59 PM (GMT)
Richard,
You'll be cheered to hear that "Still Ill" and "Girl Afraid" appear often in our sets.
"Barbarism.." will join them very soon (along with more of "Meat is Murder")

sing your life! oh dear, now i've got started i may never stop...
Kirsty - February 21, 2007 11:05 PM (GMT)
Next time you play Kyps (please come back sooner than October!!) is there any chance of Handsome Devil? Gotta be a favourite of mine.
A Rush And A Push... would be lovely too, a highly underrated song. Ooh and Wonderful Woman!
From the Morrissey side, Sister I'm A Poet, Jack The Ripper, Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself, Picadilly Palare (the one with the extra verse), Such A Little Thing Makes Such A Big Difference......I shouldn't go on.

Mute Witness is one of the great LIVE songs in the Morrissey canon!
