Title: DP and DBZ similarities

MajinShenron - January 22, 2006 07:07 PM (GMT)
As a DBZ fan and a DP fan (DBZ= Dragonball Z, DP= Danny Phantom) I've noticed many similarities about them. There is no "general" Danny Phantom forum in here so I think this is the best place to put it.

One thing is their transformations. For saiyans to become stronger they go super saiyan, and for Danny Fenton, he goes ghost. Also when they transform sometimes in DP lights go around him showing it's as signifcant change. Also when they get tired or beat up they return to their original form not sustaining the form which makes them more powerful.

Secodnly in both shows there are energy rays. Almost all the fighters in the DBZ world have an energy ray, and almost every ghost in the Danny Phantom has a ghost ray. The ghost ray is a powerful ray but like in DBZ takes energy.

Also in DBZ and in DP they can fly without wings. Not such a big deal but it is another similarity.

Also as you see in the latest Danny Phantom movie Skulker and Technus "fused" to suit eachother's purposes. In Dragonball Z fusions occured many times to accomplish a common goal.

Another similarity is that some ghosts and many fighters in the DBZ world can duplicate. Though most of the fighters use a “mirror move” in the DBZ world but some actually divide, such as Tien and Majin Buu.

Also a plot of a story was very similar, it is the one that both of the futures of their worlds were in trouble and they had to fix it so the future never happens (Androids and Evil Danny Phantom).

A similarity someone made in one of the other DP forums is that like Majin Buu Pariah Dark was to hard to control so they locked him up forever. Bibidi had trouble controlling Majin Buu so he had to lock him up forever.

And last, rivalries. Vegeta and Goku were rivals and they didn’t like each other for a long time. They both have the same, but also very different stories. The same goes to Vlad Plasmius and Danny Phantom.

NO. There is a BIG difference betwen similar and two things using cliches.

Like I said, two things using cliches. It takes energy to keep their forms, and if they pass out they can't keep it up. There are a lot of shows/animes with that kinda thing.

...Okay, fine, I can accept that.

A lot of characters can fly without wings. Superman for one. But superman sucks too.

Not really a similarity because in DP they only did it once. In DBZ, it's waaay overused. Like everything else in that anime

ONE person can duplicate. ONE.

...Which creates a paradox thus ripping apart the fabric of time as we know it.

...So basically prisons are ripping of DBZ?

That is the most retarded thing I have EVER heard. Rivalries? EVERY SINGLE SHOW/BOOK/MOVIE/ANIME IN EXISTANCE HAS RIVALRIES YOU TARD.

They are nothing alike. DP is good, DBZ is not.

Which is why I said "not a big deal".

In the other 300 shows is was only used about 3-4 times.

Not sure what your trying to say but Vlad was able to duplicate himself 4 times and other chareacters in DBZ were able to duplicate themselves more than once.

I'm listing similarities here, I never mentioned ripping off DBZ.

Once again I am listing similarities, and by the way how could you call me a "tard" if you make spelling mistakes in the sentence you are calling me it?

They have more differences than similarities but they are similar, and as for which one is good and which one is bad that is your opinion.

Uhm... yes. He does. He's super strong and crap but can be killed by a shiney green/red rock? OMFG MY HERO!

clintrussell - January 22, 2006 10:37 PM (GMT)
Ima shove a green/ red rock down your throat and see if you live

Bran Muffin - January 22, 2006 10:39 PM (GMT)
...That's never happened to superman you moron. He sees it and is suddenly like, "OMG IM DIEING WTF DO I DO!!111"

Die faster.

clintrussell - January 22, 2006 11:16 PM (GMT)
i know....

just stfu...

Bran Muffin - January 22, 2006 11:19 PM (GMT)
Heh, "I know it sucks, stop making it painfully obvious!"

Mabaroshiwoou - January 22, 2006 11:23 PM (GMT)
No offense, clint, Majin, but I HATE DBZ. There, I said it. :whatever:

Bran Muffin - January 22, 2006 11:25 PM (GMT)
Anyone who is offended because someone else doesn't like something they like is a retard, Mabby.

clintrussell - January 23, 2006 12:10 AM (GMT)
dont call me a retard....

Bran Muffin - January 23, 2006 12:13 AM (GMT)
I wasn't talking about anyone in particular, but whatever sinks your boat o.o;

Kismet - January 23, 2006 12:17 AM (GMT)
Bran I'm very close to warning you. And I really don't want to.

Stop arguing and get back to the topic at hand. You too, clint.

On Topic:

Yeah, a couple of those similarities are just by chance or due to archetypes... or over-used plotlines. The last point, though, about the Danny/Vlad and the DBZ relationship... that is plausible.
