Title: The BEMANI series
Description: DDR, IIDX, and other music games

So here's the BEMANI thread. I guess I can post some screenshots of my progess in here from time to time. Meanwhile, how about listing what you play in here?
I'm not very diverse when it comes to BEMANI:
DDR: Stepmania (800+ songs), played with modded MadCatz softmat
IIDX: beatmania (USA), IIDX 9th, IIDX RED, played with two American controllers
Now to go back to trying to pass Rislim Remix 7Key (finished with like 60% just now, such a stupid ending)
edit: well whaddaya know, look what I just now did on this midsummer day. Terrible timing this time around, but I finally cleared it.

beatmania IIDX is a whole 'nother beast. I'd been playing stepmania with my hands for about 5 months before I picked up beatmania (USA) and after I had played beatmania for about three weeks I could pass almost any song... rated a 3 and under. And even then just barely.
If you're in waterview, you can stop by my place some time to try your hand at IIDX if you want.

if you can link me to the IIDX download site, i'd appreciate it. I like new challenges, so them 7key is a beast? Lemme try.
Oh and if you can also like me to some awesome songs for it too.... thx thx.. much apreciation. |
I never messed with any PC sims of beatmania IIDX, sorry. Like I said though I live in Waterview, and if you do too it'd be easy to come over and try it out.
edit: holy crap I'm better than I thought

I got an A on V (Light 7)!!!

I usually play songs of 150BPM at High Speed 3, but I played this on High Speed 4, and though I was sort of flying by the seat of my pants, my timing obviously was quite improved (just under 100 EX points!).
Azu (or anyone else), any recent accomplishments?

Eh, I guess you can. I'll admit I'm sorta guilty of piracy myself (that blurred-out disc is a 10th Style after all), but it's a bit bad when it comes to IIDX since the PS2 releases already almost died due to lack of sales (7th Style for the PS2 almost didn't come out at all, and when it did it was a very small release).
Anyway though, you can do it sometime, yeah. I do need some high-quality DVDRs (remember that not-so-good DVDRs will eventually ruin a PS2's laser due to excessive power draw), so maybe if you could give me some that'd be nice.
And I hope you at the least buy the American beatmania so you can have a nice controller to play on! Using a dualshock sucks ass. The American version is like $40 in most places by now, which is a steal considering that import controllers for IIDX used to be like $100+shipping (at least before the market was flooded with the American controllers) and they didn't come with a game, of course.
EDIT: I saw in another thread that you have a HD loader... IIDX is notorious for getting off-sync when loading from a hard drive. What fun is that in a music game? Anyway don't say I didn't warn you.

General question- what is the determination of high-quality/low-quality recordable media?
I used to mainly just get the Fry's store brand of CD-Rs, and there used to be 3-5 discs per spindle that would fail. Now, I can't think of the last time I've had a burn fail(DVD or CD) that did not have another good explanation why. I've been alternating between the Fry's GQ brand and Memorex, depending upon sales, availability and rate of use.

To tell ya the truth I'm not really sure, since I haven't even had a DVD burner until this year, so I'm new to burning DVDs. I think though you can find guides online that can help you determine if you have good media or not.
