Chen Liu In 189 AD, Cao Cao in attempting to avoid arrest by the authorities over his failed assassination on Dong Zhuo fled to Chenliu which was then governed by his friend Zhang Miao. Upon settling down, Cao Cao recruited men of talent and soldiers and sent forged edicts to warlords across the country to overthrow the tyrant Dong Zhuo. Thus Chenliu became Cao Cao's foremost base of operations in his quest to gain control of the nation. |

Ping Yuan Ping Yuan was a part of Qingzhou in the later Han period but became a part of Jizhou when the Three Kingdoms were established. As reward and recognition for helping to suppress the Yellow Scarves Rebellion, the evil eunuches assigned Liu Bei as the magistrate of Ping Yuan. Thus this is where Liu Bei began his politcal career and experience. |

Han Zhong It is the place where Liu Bang, the founder of the Han Dynasty first took his initial steps towards the founding of the Han Dynasty. The warlord Zhang Lu ruled this area during the later Han Dynasty before being subdued by Cao Cao. However Cao Cao's conquest of Han Zhong to serve as a launching pad for the invasion of Shu was short lived after Liu Bei wrestle the control of Han Zhong from Cao Cao. From then onwards, Han Zhong serves as the launch pad for Zhuge Liang and Jiang Wei's invasion of Wei. |

Yong An It was spilt from Badongjun during Liu Zhang's tenure as governor of Yizhou. Right now it is situated in Sichuan province's Fengjie county. Following the aftermath of his disastrous defeat at Yi Ling, Liu Bei fled to here and died shortly after. This place is referred to as Baidicheng by Wu kingdom and known as Yong An by Shu kingdom. |

Yi Ling Located in the southern part of Jingzhou. In 222AD, Liu Bei in his bid to avenge the death of his sworn brother Guan Yu, launched a massive invasion into East Wu. Though the fight was brought deep into enemy lines, Liu Bei's ferocious attacks were brought to a halt when Lu Xun burnt many of Liu Bei's camps at Yiling. Defeated, Liu Bei fled to Baidicheng where he passed away after falling ill brooding too much over the loss of his sworn brothers and the defeat. |

Xu Chang After responding to Emperor Xian's plea for help, Cao Cao moved the capital to Xu Chang. After capturing the entire He Bei, Cao Cao shifted his base of operations to Ye but Emperor Xian still reside in Xu Chang till the end of the Han Dynasty when he was forced to abdicate in favor of Cao Pi. |
