If you're not quite ready to let loose and love, then maybe you should refrain from entering the world of Naomi & The Courteous Rudeboys (NCR). They put funk in your pocket, dub in your soul & femme fatale vocals in your ears. From Santa Cruz, CA, this quintet is fun, quirky and furiously dedicated to throwing a good party.
NCR was formed in 2005 and have been making their way around the west coast and beyond via their BIO-DIESEL school bus ever since. At-home on the festival circuit; they've been included in the line-ups of Earthdance, High Sierra, Symbiosis, Dreamtime and Bobolink. Their fresh, original material can be heard on indie stations world-wide and their live performance often includes choreographed dance to accompany their energetic sound.
With their debut LP, Beautiful Beings, released in June 2007, NCR has only just begun to spread their diverse music to their even more diverse fan-base . Recorded at the legendary Hyde Street Studios in San Francisco, the album's soul hit, 'Love Song', features Oakland-based gospel trio, the Stovall Sisters.
Based out of the Santa Cruz mountains, they find an infinite source of guidance and inspiration from the redwood trees. Traveling in a sustainable fashion and striving for health and well-being on their journeys, NCR is living proof that quality living makes quality music!
"A big factor in Naomi's favor is her voice—one of those taunting, sultry coos that sounds like innocence and naughtiness sharing the same sleeping bag."
