Title: Cyclops Demolition Vehicle

The Cyclops gets a pretty bad rap from a lot of gamers. I believe, however, that it is a valuable and very cost effective measure that can change the course of a battle. An Imperial Armor tank, it is based on the WWII German vehicle called the Goliath. It is basically a self propelled demolitions charge with an armor value. You drive it like a tank in the game, and if it isnt killed, you get a non drifting pie plate (and it has a low points cost for what it does). Even if you kill it, theres a chance it will still detonate.
The main advantage to taking them is that it can force the enemy to rethink their strategy. Against SM players it means that they will have to think before charging towards you, bc the blast can easily kill even terminators with ease.
They tend to draw a lot of fire, and die easily. However, even this is a good purpose. They have an armor value, which means that the other side has to use up some high strenght weapons to kill it, but it cannot be ignored because of its low AP and high strength. They either waste shots that should be killing your Russ tanks, or else ignore it and you get a free <BOOM> at them. It is real good against assaulty armies because they generally rely on assaulting vehicles, and that puts the attackers within the blast template if they kill it too good.
Just putting one out there stopped half of an Ork army from charging once, buying time for the infantry weapons to thin them out more.
Overall its a lot of fun to use [thats why i play in teh first place] and its a lot of fun to watch the other players try to figure out what to do with them.

Wow! A forgeworld model!

Post some piccies in Hobby please!

I would say that, given the stats I have just heard, it is a formidable weapon!

I have on ebone to pick with you, however. That is copyrighted information, so I will have to edit you post.

In the future, just rememebr that stats aren't aloowed, or VO could be terminated!

You CAN, however, say this: It has strenght of a melta-gun and AP of a Demolisher. Therefore, your not giving away any information to a reader, but they know the numbers.

Thanks for your information! It will help us all!

Sorry bout the stats General. Didnt know what constitutes copywrited materiel. Hopefully the edit will work.

Actually, mine are custom built/converted off of 1/72nd scale WW2 tanks (Hetzers)
When I get a camera, I will be posting a lot of pics...bwahahah

Ooh, looking at the stats...

that is a formidable weapon. My only concern would be the mass amount of fire power directed towards it, and the operator.

Was wondering... if the operator is killed, and the cyclops is in a place where it would cause damage to the enemy, could your own troops shoot at it? (And hopefully blow it up).

One of the main benefits of using the cyclops is the massed firepower against it. The fact that it has an armor value means that its mainly weapons that could pose a threat to one of your other tanks that are being wasted on a vehicle that costs about a third of an infantry squad.

The operator doesn't need Line of Sight to his demo vehicle to use it. [the forgeworld model has a camera on the cyclops]. He just has to stay within a Missile launcher's range of it.
In fact, they can both be mounted in a Chimera trasport, and the operator can remain inside after the cyclops has deployed.

If you are palying with an opponent who you have agreed to alow shooting at your own models you can shoot it, otherwise you are constrained from doing the obvious best choice. [Personally, i think guard should be allowed to fire on their own men if the situation requires... maybe with a leadership test or something...]

Happy pie plating!
