Title: Fresh Start
Description: So long past, hello future!

Ranita walked slowly towards the lab, staring hard at the ground. The sun had already past its Zenith, nearing the setting point. She really preferred the night time, but she was afraid that everyone would be sleeping if she had waited until then. Besides, if she started her journey now, darkness would fall soon enough. She just hoped her Pokemon would be able to stay awake... She didn't want to make it bend to her unusual sleeping habits if it didn't want to.

The teen continued walking with her eyes glued to her feet, not even caring that she was completely vulnerable at that moment. She paid little attention to her surroundings, but she knew she was going the right way. As she grew closer to the lab, she just kept on walking, hardly seeming to realize that she was heading straight for the door.

Ranita stopped just a moment before she would have slammed her forehead against the entry to the lab, and finally looked up. Luckily she never really let down her guard, and had an amazing sense for obstructions. If she didn't... well, she would have died long ago. Sighing loudly, Ranita raised a fist and quickly gave the door two sharp raps.

The Professor looked around, and finally located the sound of the door. No, not the door. Someone was behind the door! Stumbling towards it, he opened it carefully. He had to be a figure. At least someone who was in rather well control of himself. Sometimes he gave way to... drinks. And it wasn't proper to drink and be a Professor. Not at all. People would think he was stupid.

Brushing the dirt away from his shirt, he looked towards the table. Clearing away his drinks, he walked towards the girl. The smell of beer was in his breath. "Choose what you'd like from the careers," he whispered. He pointed at the adequately arranged pile of papers. They had 'Trainer' Pokemon, 'Coordinator' Pokemon, 'Breeder' Pokemon and 'Ranger' Pokemon. His hope was that this girl had her thoughts organized, or else she might take a while.

And he most certainly did not want to take a while.

Ranita raised an eyebrow at the sounds coming from withing the lab. It sounded as if someone was... stumbling towards the door? She shook her head and forced a smile onto her face as said door was opened. The man looked composed... yet there was something off about him. Not really giving it too much thought, the nocturnal girl stepped into the lab as the man went over to the table.

She missed him clearing away the drinks, but she certainly caught the odd smell as the man spoke. Ranita fought the urge to gag, and walked over to the papers. She glanced at them, but her mind was on the smell. She recognized it from somewhere.... she just didn't know where. Still dwelling on it, she spotted one Pokemon that just seemed to leap off the page.

"Well, I want to be a trainer. I'll take a Mareep if you still have any," she said flatly. Then it hit her-the smell was that of alcohol. Since her parents never allowed the stuff in the house she wouldn't have known... However, she had the misfortune of meeting a drunk on one of her nighttime strolls. Ranita shuddered, but otherwise said nothing.

'I hope I can get out of here soon...' she thought, having no idea that the man only wanted the same thing. Her last experience with a drinker had not been a pleasant one, and she had no intentions of staying near one for any length of time.

He looked at her inquisitively, as if he’d never seen her before. “Mareep, huh?” He quickly scurried over to the back room, and looked for the Pokeball. At least it should be easy for him to do it. Normally he was pretty fast. Most likely it was because he didn’t like to do it, and it went really fast. This way, he would go the way he wanted to. Wouldn’t matter, because whatever he did he got right. As long as he paid attention.

“Got it,” he muttered to himself. He had grasped the Pokeball in his hand and scurried along for the Starter’s Pack. It was really important, and he couldn’t forget it. Or else someone would not be happy with him. Such as the other Professors.
