Title: Possible JPIV Director?

Sahara' Helmer to Direct JP4? Seems like the squeaky wheels on JP4 might be turning, at least, if the ever-unreliable IMDB is to be believed. 'Raptoralpha' noticed the page on JP4 has been updated, not only saying "script has been finalized" but adding a new name to the JP universe -- Breck Eisner is listed as "in negotiations", a small-time director (who happens to be the son of past Disney president Michael Eisner) best known for last year's action flick Sahara (It was the one with Matthew McConaughey looking for a battleship in the desert, remember?). You may now resume your waiting... |

I think it's BS, exspecially coming from IMDB.

Yeah, gotta be BS, especially when it's from IMDB.

Spielberg: Johnston Gets 'First Dibs' on JP4
Word from the proverbial horses mouth today: JP3 director Joe Johnston is "standing by" to direct JP4, according to Steven Spielberg himself in an exclusive interview with Spielbergfilms.com (celebrating its 5 year birthday!). Calling Joe his "go-to 'Jurassic' guy now," he shoots down any talk that he didn't like JP3. "I think the film is witty and clever, and I think Joe did an amazing job putting together those battles," he says. "I’m a huge fan of Joe’s, and he’s the right guy to do the fourth one." And what about this Breck Eisner guy? No way, says Steven. Great interview, Spielbergfilms.com!

I can't say I'm not a little disappointed that Johnston might be back, but I'm willing to give him another shot at JP since JP/// really wasn't his fault. It was a bad script with rather bland characters... what could he really do? I am a little confused though that Johnston would want to tackle another JP movie though, especially considering his negative experiences with JP///. It's no secret how much he disliked the JP/// project.
I do disagree though with parts of the interview, especially this part:

I wouldn't call JP/// witty OR clever... and if there is one thing JP isn't about, it's dinosaur battles! >:
Sounds like Spielberg is just sticking up for his friend rather than taking a serious interest in the JP movie series.

Actually, according to Spielberg, Johnston did enjoy the process. Doesn't change the truth that this bird won't be flying far. Whatever they come up with won't meet everyone's expectations and will never exceed the first JP exactly like TLW and JP3 didn't. It is, quite frankly said, impossible.
EyeofGenesis - July 19, 2006 02:01 PM (GMT)
I know that JPIV will never surpass the original, but in order for it to redeem the series, JPIV needs the right people behind the scenes. I do remember Johnston being dissatisfied with the whole JP/// experience, and if those news stories were accurate, Johnston might not be the best person to direct JPIV.

Dear Lord don't let Johnston direct. He did have something to do with JP3's mediocrity, whether you want to believe it or not. All they have to do now is sign on Horner again and we'll have the worst dinosaur film of all time on our hands. First it was the damn super dinosaur crime fighter script, and now they might be letting Johnston back on? Perhaps I will change my mind on JP4; maybe it shouldn't see the light of day.
Dino_Slayer - July 21, 2006 07:10 PM (GMT)
The movies aren't the worst problem, it's our tolerance of them and eachother. Let's just allow Johnston to get another chance with this one and hope for the best. That's all a fan can do. As for what happens if this movie proves unsuccesful is beyond me, but atleast I have my good memories of the first film, well, what is left of them, anyway.

Horner!*loud t-rex roar*Shhhhh dont say "horner" and "jp4" in the same sentence in a normal voice tone. The t-rex will hear you,and if i do recall you should never say the king of dino's is a scavenger. And the only time "horner" and "jp4" should be in a sentence is if the words "Will-be-eaten-bye-a-tyrannosauras-in"are in between them.

Andy-rex, you might want to read the rules again!
The reason I quoted DS's post was because over thelast 2 weeks, I watched the 1st 2 Alien movies. And guess what, the Aliens was better! If a sequel can be better in that case, why can't it be better in this case?
