Title: Bird becomes dinosaurs!
Description: Someone is researching on make Dinosaurs
raptor_larsen - August 9, 2006 08:53 PM (GMT)
Hi!
If it is already a thread for this, will I say that I am sorry.
But, I have heard some lectures of an Norwegian dinosaur-expert and he have told me:
Someone is reasearching on making REAL dinosaurs.
But, instead of using the JP-way (from ambers) they edit chicken-dna.
What they have done so far:
Turned of the beak-genes AND the chicken got tooths instead!!!
Turned of the wing-genes AND the chicken got arms with clows!
I am going to another lecture by the Norwegian dinosaur-expert later this year and will update you!

Is there a website or an article to prove this?
raptor_larsen - August 9, 2006 09:21 PM (GMT)
I don't know. I can ask me next time I am on a lecture or if I meet him at the museum.

Is this the same guy who said he is being hired for JP 4 and 5?
arboldin - August 10, 2006 02:07 AM (GMT)
Yea Sy, I think its Wikipedia. Anyway, raptor_larsen, I believe you 100%, but I doubt it is possible at the moment, and if it was they wouldn't release it to the public. The government likes to hide things from us...
eyesaurSy - August 10, 2006 02:28 AM (GMT)
I can just imagine it.
Chicken/Dinos in Iraq!!!! No one can defeat their awesome power!!!
MWUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHFAHFAAaaaaaaaaaa...
cormorant_89 - August 10, 2006 02:41 AM (GMT)
Chickens are good I eat them. Think of the effect on the envirionment if dinos come back. total disruption. elephants will be eaten whales will fly...well maybe not but you get my point.
arboldin - August 10, 2006 02:58 AM (GMT)
Well cormorant, I think this is more believable then your little " I saw a dragon" thing...
raptor_larsen - August 11, 2006 08:57 AM (GMT)
Tiny:
I don't know anything about JP4/JP5 so I can't answer you. The dino-expert's name is *****.
arboldin:
What is Wikipedia? And thanks for beliving me!
Everyone:
Any name sugestions to the dino/chicken-species?
What about Chickenosaurus???
Dilophosaurus - August 13, 2006 08:24 PM (GMT)
It's an interesting way to recreate a dinosaur. But can you mutate the dna into feathers into scales?either way you'd get a theropod that would be grouped in with the ornithisichians instead of the saurisichians.
raptor_larsen - August 14, 2006 08:19 AM (GMT)
Well, if they can edit the beak and wing-genes they have a possibility to edit the feathers into scales...

Its not going to be the real thing anways, just some hybrid but it will look very interesting if they succed, but playing god always is a risk, it needs a name, chickensaurs would be good.
Giganotosaurus Rex - August 17, 2006 05:38 AM (GMT)
i think it might look like Velociraptor
very cool :ThumbsUp

Interesting concept...but what exactly is the guy's motive to such research and expense might I ask? Is it awesome because we can do it, or awesome because it will be a benefit in some way?
raptor_larsen - September 10, 2006 12:21 PM (GMT)
If you ask me, I ask you ;-)
Adam - September 10, 2006 08:06 PM (GMT)
But I am asking you. ;) That's the point.

I have heard of them making chickens with teeth this way. I have not heard of the claws thing, though.
Anyone in here ever hear of a hoatzin? It's a bird... when they are chicks, they still have claws attached to their wings. The claws go away when they grow up, though.
