Title: Camera

Does anyone know if it is possible to get funding for camera gear? Reason i ask is at the minute my camera equipment is being used solely for taking photos of the cougars, that in its self is not a problem and i really enjoy it but it does not generate any income whatsoever, people look but are unwilling buy. When the shutter mechanism wears out on my 20D (they have a finite life span and it is to be expected at some point) i am looking at £350 to £400 for a repair which the odd thank you isnt going to pay for unfortunatly, at this point the photos for the site simply stop.

So any ideas would be welcome.

fev had a good plan. hand out jars and ask people to save spare change and return full jars.

The thing is though people are going to argue that all funds raised by people at games etc. should go to the club and to be honest i can understand that, especially since no one other than our Matt asked me to embark on this, it was not a decision the club made. I would rather sort it out separate to the club for that reason alone mate.

Thats very nice of you to say so mate but at the end of the day no one forced me in to building the website or into taking the photos, i am very proud of both and i am happy for them to be my contribution to the club.

I think the best solution is if my shutter does go ill see how much a repair job is and hope some of the lads will have a whip round. Then it is all entirely voluntary and people know what it is going for, if that paid for half of it thats better than a kick in the nads isn't it.

My 20D is still under warranty by the way so i am not excepting it to go any time soon.

hOMERJ, my missus will bring her miniDV camcorder to one match and ill put it on to a DVD to see how that works out as a trial, is that ok?

I wont beable to do it directly after the match mate cos the transfer alone is going to be 80 minutes, plus the time to recode and structure the files.

the pictures you take at matches john are that good i wonder if you could sell them to any players intrested and put any money you make after your costs to one side towards a new shutter when that one packs in

The prices for the photos have been on the site since day one mate but again you cannot force people in to buying them, they are on the shop page :) it only just covers the price of the printing, wear and tear etc. i have a tin that the cash goes in to which helps towards the next bit of equipment. This is how i used to do it for the last group i took the photos for, it doesn't pay for anything big but it puts a dent into anything i might need to buy. If a photo was to be used commercially i would donate some of the profit from that back to either the player or the club but i cant see that happening, i have only ever had one photo printed and i didn't get a penny :lol

The Prices are pretty mental to be honest with you, the lens i use to take the cougars shots took me 6 months to save up for and even when heavily discounted it still cost £400 and my camera body put me in to 18 months worth of debt but it is what i want to do, it is the one thing i am good at.

The lens i want to make the best of a game is 1100 quid but i value my knackers and i will wait until i win the lotto rather than upset the missus :rofl
