Title: Kitten
Description: meow....meow...meow
glowinggirl - May 21, 2006 11:47 PM (GMT)
This past Tuesday I just got a kitten named Jack, we renamed him Dingo.
Anybody else on here own a cat/kitten?
The funny thing about it was that he was on live tv with the Tuesday Tail waggers on the local Charlotte news station. The animal control features dogs and cats every tuesday on there. The lady that worked here was telling me about the kitten and It seemed to me he sounded pretty sweet so I write the ID# down, go to my mom she says which one I look ove to the cage and don't see him. I'm like ''Where did the 2 cats here go?'' and she's like ''Oh they went on Tv, Tuesday tail waggers'' so we waited for it to come on and saw them (brother and sister)they were so cute! There wa sanother lady waiting for the girl while I was waiting on the boy. Turns out I LOVED DINGO! So here I am!
I need advice though the cat will not sleep in the game room by himself I've been sleeping on the floor in sleeping bags the last 2 days barely getting sleep! He'll sit there by the door and ''meow'' over and over and over......oh yeah did I mention the room is huge? Plenty of toys food water litterbox! I wish somebody would spoil me like that!

If you have a wind up alarm then put in a towel to diguise it.
The ticking of the clock sounds like another cats heart beating.
Maybe if you do that, then Dingo will think there is another cat
with him. :playcat: Have you tried having him sleep on the end of
your bed or next to you. These are a couple opf theing we had
to do with our many cats.

We had to move his litter box into my room along with his food so now he lives with me. The first night was pretty crazy but he cooled down and I was able to finally get some sleep. What is the best way to discipline him? Like when he jumps on the sofa or tries to eat my toes, or play with my hands like their toys?
Also, I've heard about this product when you put on these ''fake nails'' almost, on the cat. Except their plastic so the cat can't claw up the sofa..... have your tried this before?
DoodleBear - May 26, 2006 03:37 AM (GMT)
No I haven't tried the fake nails. I do know there is furniture guards
that can be put on the corners of the couches. As for playing with your
hands, kind of thumped their noses. It seemed to work for us.

Hey Glowinggirl, how's the new kitty doing? Is he
sleeping at night now or is he still crying? :playcat:
glowinggirl - May 29, 2006 06:57 PM (GMT)
Dingo is always playing during the day that he wears himself out, so he hops up on my bed and sleeps most of he night.(He likes to be up at the crack of dawn!) :roflol:
glowinggirl - May 29, 2006 09:58 PM (GMT)
He's getting bigger week after week too!
I really gotta get him out of the habit of bitting at my fingers like their food!
Other than that, i  my baby!
He's getting more courageous with jumping on thing though!
He might actually be a she, when we got him from the shelter they said he was a boy named Jack! From the looks of it he might be a she.
We got to take him to the vet and find out and to get his shots.
Oh yeah, remember how I said the other lady there was getting the girl?
She might have gotten the boy!
bratgirl42 - May 30, 2006 01:56 AM (GMT)
If you don't know if your kitten is a boy or a girl, here's how to find out:
Check under the kitten!!!
glowinggirl - May 30, 2006 02:01 PM (GMT)
That's the thing!
See we can't really tell because he was spayed/nuetered so ''down there'' is like this stubby closed up thing. But! He does have like 8 nipples so mabey that should be telling me something. They are so tiny right now.
DoodleBear - May 30, 2006 03:51 PM (GMT)
Sounds like Dingo is a girl. :playcat:

Now I have a bigger problem.
She is teething and she chews on toys, shoes, more importantly she tries to chew on my fingers when I'm holding her. Not to mention she has some sort of obsession with shoes and sunflower seeds!
DoodleBear - June 4, 2006 04:15 AM (GMT)
Hey Glowinggirl do you have play toys for Dingo. There's cat nip
toys that cats just love. They will roll around and chew on the toys.
There is also balls that the cats like to bat around. I know b/c
I 7 cats in and out of my house. Some are young cats and some are
older cats. But I do love them. :playcat:
glowinggirl - June 6, 2006 11:42 PM (GMT)
Believe me he has alot of toys!
I think we spoil him/her, her/him!
I'm trying to break Dingo out of the habit and Dingo hasn't been chewing on my fingers when I hold him that much anymore. :mudge2:
DoodleBear - June 9, 2006 05:21 AM (GMT)
How's the kitty doing? I love kittys especially baby ones.
They are so cuddlely and cute. :playcat:
glowinggirl - June 10, 2006 01:01 AM (GMT)
Dingo is doing fine, mom finally found a vet for him so next week he's going to get his check-up! I got some books from the library and I got all the info I need about cat behaviors so I'm pretty much set! ^_^ We took so long to find a vet because we wanted the very best for little Dingo.....aww he so cute. Their this little mose thing he loves playing with, I'm watching him right now.... :playcat:
He's sitting there all tired now.... looks like some one is about to fall asleep....
Then he'll be awake rechared as ever!

I love cats and the hardest thing that I have had to do was
have one of my cats put to sleep. Last July 1 cat was losing
weight and ws not eating. I tooke him to the vet. The vet did
some lab work and said Lucky (cat) had pnenomia and gave us
medicine to give him. One month later he wasn't any better so
I took him back. The vet said his lungs sounded clear but
agreed there was something wrong. He took him to another
clinic and some other test. He had lung cancer and was
suffering from the pain. My sister and I were there when
Dr Carder put him to sleep. Yes he died in our arms.TearTear :playcat:

Thats so sad!
I hate it when doctors keepp switching you around to different doctors who ''study'' a certain area whether it's the lungs, heart, kidneys, whatever; and they still can't figure out what is wrong until it's too late!
How old was Lucky?
DoodleBear - June 24, 2006 03:01 AM (GMT)
Lucky was 7 yrs olf but what made Lucky so special
was he was 3 legged. Yes 3 legged. When we got his as
a kitten he had a bad leg. We thought it was broken, but it
was paralyzed. The doctors coldn't do anything but amputate
his front right leg. He got around like he had 4 legs. Nothing
ever bothered him until he got sick. He is in kitty heaven
running through the fiels chasing butterflies. :mudge:

I have a question: Do any of your cats run around at night around midnight like they have no sense? :playcat:
DoodleBear - June 27, 2006 02:29 AM (GMT)
Sometimes I thinks they do. I heara funny noise in the living room.
I think the 3 cats (yrs) old are playing with each other. :mudge: :playcat:

The only problem with Dingo is that he won't stop growing!

I love him soo much though, and yeah he likes to keep me up at night too.
