A rather strange list - I suppose we won't quibble our players inclusion too much but van Persie's inclusion is, when he was out injured for the best part of the last season, is rather strange. Why Cannavaro and not Sergio Ramos? Why Diarra? Why not Silva? Why do Beckahm and Maldini even get a mention?

As you say, Raul, Becks and RVP are very strange choices for the list. As is god damn Quaresma. :banghead:
I'd say this list is better than the other one that came out a few weeks back though. Not sure which one that was.
The Emirates Gallastico - October 21, 2007 03:12 PM (GMT)
Ochoa and Ceni...
Da Silva Lining - October 21, 2007 03:14 PM (GMT)
No Lampard.... This list goes up even higher in my estimations...
TheCrazy58 - October 21, 2007 03:19 PM (GMT)
Or John Terry...
More I look at it, the more strange it becomes. I mean, much as I love him (just to annoy McNamanara), Pippo Inzaghi? , Deco? (had a pretty rubbish last season though he has been playing well this season. Did Buffon get chosen because he stuck it out with Juve in SerieB?
It's Up For Grabs Now - October 21, 2007 03:30 PM (GMT)

TheCrazy58 - October 21, 2007 04:02 PM (GMT)
'Ballon d'Or prize, also known as the World Footballer of the Year award' ....according to Goal.com
However...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ballon_d%27orUEFA also do European Footballer of the Year award I think...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Club_Foo...ler_of_the_YearI am confused now.
Grimandi's Perm - October 21, 2007 04:04 PM (GMT)
I was certain that the Ballon D'or prize was European PotY.
Seems Maccy was too...
McNamara That Ghost... - October 21, 2007 04:08 PM (GMT)
Yeah I was always under the impression Ballon d'Or was European player of the year.
Grimandi's Perm - October 21, 2007 04:09 PM (GMT)
| QUOTE |
This prestigious award signifies the World Footballer of the Year, given to the a winner who is judged by a panel of footballing journalists to be the best of all those playing in global football today.
Up until this season, it was named the European Footballer of the Year award, open only to those plying their trade with UEFA clubs. |
Hmm
McNamara That Ghost... - October 21, 2007 04:12 PM (GMT)
I see. So it makes FIFA's World player of the year even more pointless now then?
