Title: La Liga This Weekend (3 - 4/Nov)

Gerry Armstrong's Mallorca v Valencia -- on Sky
Sevilla v Real Madrid - on Sky
Sunday, 04 November 2007
Athletic Bilbao v Recreativo Huelva - on Sky
Atletico Madrid v Villarreal
Barcelona v Real Betis - on Sky
Levante v Almeria
Murcia v Deportivo La Coruna
Osasuna v Getafe
Racing Santander v Espanyol
Real Zaragoza v Valladolid
As in the PL, these big clashes keep coming - after Sevilla v Valencia and Valencia v Real Marketing, it's Sevilla v Real Madrid. . And it should be a cracking match, as Sevilla closed the chapter on the Ramos era by annihilating Valencia last weekend (not a particularly difficult task at the mo ;) ) and would be well up for the encounter with the league leaders. Ramos' departure was accompanied by the predictable gossip as to which Sevilla players would follow him to Spuds, but the team look remarkably sanguine and solid. Conclude what you like there about how they felt about Ramos. Madrid's midweek demolition of Valencia does not serve as an indicator of either team's form but I would say all three points for the home team who will have Fredi Kanoute back from injury. Madrid will be missing injured Sneijder and Higuain.
Ronald Koeman might have wished for an easier fixture as his first as Valencia coach than a quite consistent Mallorca. Despite the hammerings Valencia have suffered recently, I don't think they've hit rock bottom yet (they've lost against good teams after all) and there's worse to come before things get better. I also don't think the team would that impressed with his appointment either and all the dressing room nonsense may kick off afresh. Again. Quique will be watching with a nice glass of Rioja and giggling occassionally.
If Barca can't beat Betis at Nou Camp, I'll eat my keyboard.
Anyone got good recipes? :ninja:
Finally, Atleti face Villarreal after an exciting sounding 4 - 3 victory against Sevilla midweek. Forlan is out injured and won't be facing his old team - a shame, as him and Aguero have forged a potent attacking partnership having scored ten league goals between them this season so far. Atleti come on the back of three consecutive wins in the league, and Villarreal being madly inconsistent this season, I fancy them to get all three points at home.

Good thing we played Sevilla during their bad patch.

I'm glad I watched a re-run of our game and snubbed Madrid.
Sevilla on this form are capable of beating us in Seville.

Hopefully the result will be pretty academic by then. Sevilla seem to be recovering their groove - however, is it too late for them to be contenders again this season?
