Title: Portsmouth vs Arsenal
Description: Match Thread

Toure de Lapland - December 22, 2007 01:17 PM (GMT)
Going to be a tough game, i would of liked to of played Portsmouth in January, because their players are in that African cup.

Total Festive Football - December 22, 2007 03:03 PM (GMT)
Hope van Persie's back. These injuries he keeps getting must be frustrating for him (and us)

St. Nicklas - December 22, 2007 03:13 PM (GMT)
Trust Pompey to score their first home goal in a million years against us.

just as I suspected. almunia off his line before keane took the kick

What a tool, Almunia didn't move an inch until that ball was struck!

Pompey are getting spanked 2-0 by 'Pool already, it's only 17 minutes in :good:

Gunnersclaus - December 22, 2007 03:47 PM (GMT)
i think we'll have them, they seem to of lost a bit of their swagger lately.

potential banana skin, but i'll go for a narrow Gooner win.

Toure de Lapland - December 22, 2007 03:50 PM (GMT)
I think i predicted 1-0 on predict the score.

Where the Czech is Santa? - December 22, 2007 05:20 PM (GMT)
In a way losing 4-1 away will help us - it will give us confidence after their great run.

Hwoever they always do well against us at their place and the victory will hurt them whih might not be a good thing

Synta Claus - December 23, 2007 01:46 AM (GMT)
Pompey are probably the most athletic team in the league. They've got huge, black monsters (sorry if that's racist ) all over the place. They're Arsenal of 03/04 but without as much technical ability.

If we play Rosicky, Hleb, Van Persie and Fabregas, we're going to get hammered. And I'm not joking. Me thinks we'll need to start Diaby and Eduardo for this game.

I think it'll be 2-1 to Pompey.

Eduardo is more lightweight than van Persie.

It'll be a hard game. If they beat us with Rosicky, Fabregas etc it won't be a hammering, it'll be a narrow win.

It'll be a tough game, but i think we can win it.

you can hardly call our players strangers to the "physical" game now - we've developed to the stage where we can handle it

flamini will be able to return the favour in midfield as will eboue and others

I do hope theo recovers and plays, also who reckons 442 or 451? and bendtner or rvp to partner ade? I'm going with 442, ade and bendtner as things stand

you should always play your form players :good:

Coca Kolo - December 23, 2007 04:23 PM (GMT)
I can see Ade giving Campbell and Distin all sorts of problems.

If we get the first goal, we'll win.

milla - December 23, 2007 04:38 PM (GMT)
RVP might not be available for this game. Maybe we can use 2 monsters up front in Ade and Bendy. They should be able to match Pompey big defenders.

tigertheelf - December 23, 2007 04:39 PM (GMT)
If van Persie doesn't start it's almost certain that we'll play 4-5-1 :sulk:

if adebayor scores, we will not lose! turned out true against spurs as well... they missed a penalty! he has magical powers.. :ninja:

They've been disastrous at home this season, only won twice. We go there at a good time.

Warning__ - December 24, 2007 02:47 AM (GMT)
It would have been great to play them during the AcON, obviously. I'm staying optimistic for this one although whenever I wake up early for matches we get a bad result.

elreactor - December 24, 2007 04:01 AM (GMT)
I wouldnŽt risk van Persie in the first half. Is it possible to start with Bendtner and Eduardo, and this time sit Ade and RVP ?? Then, depending on the condition of their defenders (or some of them could get booked without Bendtner getting killed, heŽs quite strong :satan: ), the togolese or the dutch could get in and secure a victory. (IŽd like the Dane wouldŽve scored before that, with another flying header!!). :geek:

Warning__ - December 24, 2007 08:29 AM (GMT)
Arsene should just start the CC squad.

Fabianski

Traore
Song
Toure
Sagna

Randall
Fabregas
Diaby
Hleb

Eduardo
Bendtner

Well .. mainly CC squad.

1 - 7 to Arsenal.

:coffee:

pk_gunner - December 24, 2007 01:15 PM (GMT)
""Arsenal may opt against playing Robin van Persie after he was not risked against Tottenham."

I think we'll still win this game.

tigertheelf - December 24, 2007 01:16 PM (GMT)
I hope we play 4-4-2 with van persie up front

Lets hope he's fit.

He can still become top scorer in the league. Ever since Henry left (and was injured) like last season, there aren't any 'real' goal scorers left who'll get 30 goals in the prem. Drogba got 20 in the prem last season.

At the moment Ade is top with 10 goals? This season RVP has 5 goals in 7 games. Once he hits form he just keeps scoring (of course untill he gets injured again :crying: )

I think we'll see the dreaded 4-4-1-1 again, with RVP maybe on the bench.

RVP Left Foot - December 24, 2007 06:23 PM (GMT)
I want RVP back in the side now .
And back to 4 4 2 please even if we are away nxt 2 games

Cripps - December 24, 2007 06:26 PM (GMT)
I wouldnt mind seeing the same team start again.

Maybe RVP in for Eboue with Hleb on the right

Gael Sagna - December 24, 2007 06:26 PM (GMT)
Not sure why but ive got a feeling we're going to hammer them 3 or 4 nil, we're due a great performance i think and Hleb and Fab have both had a couple of matches under their belt now, they should be back to their best ;)

Cripps - December 24, 2007 06:27 PM (GMT)
Unfortunately we will have to put up with their pathetic fans.

RVP Left Foot - December 24, 2007 06:32 PM (GMT)
Their fans are ok , could be worse, its not a bad place to go to actually

Play up Pompey, Pompey play up x 10000

Could there be a more annoying chant?

He's called John Portsmouth FC Westwood

I think I'd shoot him if I had to put up with him and that bell if I sat near him.

Remember when they once gave Henry a standing ovation at Fratton Park? I thought they had good fans!

RVP Left Foot - December 24, 2007 06:39 PM (GMT)
Their at home, what else do expect them to shout about their team, Henry liked it their best ground he played at he said.

They do have good fans, they just have the worst chants and the most annoying fan in the history of the game.
