Title: El Classico

King-Thierry - December 23, 2007 08:10 PM (GMT)
So who will win?

Barca missing two of the so called "Fantastic Four" in Thierry and Lionel

Messi is La Ligas best player and will be a huge miss, However Samuel Eto'o is back and is in good form

Dinho isnt in the greatest of forms to say the least, he is a shadow of the player which was being called Brazils second Greatest, only Pele being greater

Madrid.....
i dont know about
Im sure Cripps will tell all

White Magic - December 23, 2007 08:34 PM (GMT)
FT. 0-1

Very professional display by Madrid to win that game. They got a lot of help from a Barca team that was very far from their best. Dare I say it, they missed Messi badly. With Eto'o in Pepe's pocket and Ronaldinho's rendition's of swan lake Iniesta was the only player who looked even mildly capable of troubling the R. Madrid defence.

The goal deserved to win the game all on it's own, immaculately weighted ball by horse face to the beast who then belted it into the roof of the net. You never saw it coming, Madrid weren't doing much attacking at all prior to that.

When Real scored I hoped that the game would come to life, alas............. twas a pretty boring game marred by rediculous diving and silly refereeing. There were times when I was adamant that there were 23 Reyes' on the pitch!

That piece of skill at the end from Iniesta was just magical, you'd almost pay the admission fee just to see that.

King-Thierry - December 23, 2007 08:35 PM (GMT)
just found out Madrid won 1-0 thanks to a 1st half goal from Baps

how comes they played early
an not at this time

Santa That Elf Just Isn't... - December 24, 2007 09:11 AM (GMT)
Barca were rrrrrubbish.

Lanchristmassy Gunner - December 24, 2007 10:45 AM (GMT)
Did Henry play or is he still injured?

Santa That Elf Just Isn't... - December 24, 2007 11:06 AM (GMT)
He was on the bench but he wasn't brought on.

tigertheelf - December 24, 2007 11:44 AM (GMT)
Not the great match I was expecting :(

All I Want For Xmas Is Abou - December 24, 2007 11:45 AM (GMT)
Gotta say, Real were miles better than Barca. Robinho was class..

St. Nicklas - December 24, 2007 12:04 PM (GMT)
What a goal by Baptista, maybe we should buy him? :D

tigertheelf - December 24, 2007 12:06 PM (GMT)
It was a fantastic goal. Great move and great assist by van horse.

Lanchristmassy Gunner - December 24, 2007 12:32 PM (GMT)

King-Thierry - December 24, 2007 03:40 PM (GMT)

Cripps - December 24, 2007 03:48 PM (GMT)

RIP Henry. A goal down and still not brought on. End of the road for him

Coca Kolo - December 24, 2007 03:50 PM (GMT)
Its Real's title to lose now me thinks.

Everything that i said about Barca in the summer has come to fruition, their demise is painful.

:yikes: that's nice!

I remember Gilberto doing something like that for us a year or so back... :D

Cripps - December 25, 2007 03:21 PM (GMT)
The only decent thing he did all game.

He was awful and his dives were laughable

The amazing thing was that he was cornered against 3 defenders in the last minute of the game!

Barca MOTM: Iniesta

R. Madrid MOTM: Pepe

The great thing was that Barca were on top of their game and Real were anything but and we still kicked theur ass.

With La Liga wrapped up, put money on Real for the CL cos thats what they will be concentrating on now.

Poor Roma

Real for the CL isn't a bad shout actually.

But they'll lose in the final when we beat them. :coffee:

That is the dream final.

2 of the best footballing teams in the final and Arsenal winning

Didn't you say Roma were going to win it?

Btw I watched the Villarreal game this weekend and I gotta say Cygan was quality, his positioning was first class. Pires was also impressive as usual, he seems to have gotten a connection with Nihat that he had with Bergkamp/Henry.

Coca Kolo - December 25, 2007 03:37 PM (GMT)
I'd hardly call Real a "footballing" team despite the talent they have. They've improved under Schuster playing wise but they aren't a patch of the 02' CL winning team, now that was a footballing team. This Real side are methodical.

No.

I said they could win it, darkhorses if you like.

Cripps - December 25, 2007 03:40 PM (GMT)
That side was the Galacticos. This team is a much younger one and in time they will take their rightful place as the 2nd best team in Europe after Arsenal

White Magic - December 25, 2007 03:40 PM (GMT)
All these teams in La Liga play better football than Madrid:

Atletico
Villarreal
Barcelona
Sevilla
Espanyol
Zaragoza
Valladolid

Just a shame he was Argentinian and therefore never as good as he could have been

The man could do it all, I dont know how Argentina failed to win the World Cup with this guy around! One of the great mysteries I suppose, just like how a Rivaldo - Kluivert partnership failed to win Barca a title.

It was a different time - Diego Tristan was actually good, Baraja could last more than 55 minutes, Aimar was the next Maradona.

Cripps - December 25, 2007 03:56 PM (GMT)
I can answer the Argentina question.

Its not a mystery, its simple.

They are shit

Coca Kolo - December 25, 2007 05:24 PM (GMT)
i'm bored so why not?

2 World Cups and countless no. of Copa Americas doesn't suggest Argentina are shit.

Cripps - December 25, 2007 05:27 PM (GMT)
Winning feck all since 1993 does

Cripps - December 25, 2007 05:37 PM (GMT)
Yeah cos FIFA are always right arent they?

Last 3 World Cups they have done the same as England and the last 2 times England have faced them, England have won.

So its justifiable to say England are better than Argentina

Italy are the best team in the world hence they are the world champions.

Brazil are the best team in South America as they won Copa America.

Cripps - December 25, 2007 05:46 PM (GMT)
Thats a shame.

I go by World Cups and for the last 4 world cups, ever since Maradona retired, Argentina have been shite.

Having not won anything since he retired, either the world cup or Copa America backs up my point

They are top cos they play and beat the likes of Peru and Venezuela all the time but put them up against a decent team and they lose. Check the last 27 tournaments they have been in for confirmation

Cripps - December 25, 2007 05:49 PM (GMT)
And i repeat, FIFA are run by a bunch of moneymen whos knowledge on football amounts to as much as Marcs and TEG which isnt much
