Title: The World's Richest Club............

jack white - January 5, 2008 01:28 PM (GMT)
.............are due to play Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this weekend.

Queen's Park Rangers are now backed by so much money that they make Team Abramovich look like Leeds United after Peter Ridsdale's time in charge.

Their latest investor, Lakshmi Mittal, who owns 20% of the club spent more money on his daughter's wedding than Abramovich did buying Shevchenko...........

He's the fifth richest man in the world and one of two billionaires who have bought into the club.

It's almost certainly enough to keep Rangers in the championship this season, should realistically be enough to get them promoted next season and, after that, the sky could be the limit for QPR.

Another nouveau-riche West London club noted for a long history of rubbish football finds itself in a position to compete with proper football clubs. Just what we needed............
<_<

Still, it would be nice if they pulled off a shock result this weekend.

It`s amazing that out of all the clubs in the world he could`ve invested in. He choose QPR! Still, next season they should be a real force. If they don`t get promotion there can be no excuses.

So no pressure on the manager then. ;)

I wouldn't be suprised to see QPR at least get a draw and they could win you never know :D

I think they'll go up this season to be honest.

It's the Championship - you only need a run of three wins and you could be near the play-off positions.

Personally, I think that should be the rule, not the exception.

If a foreign investor wants in, they should only be allowed to purchase clubs who are really in the shit, rather than going for the quick money makers of buying teams like Manu/Liverpool/etc.

QPR will be a force to be reckoned with in a few seasons time me thinks.

Yossarian - January 26, 2008 05:37 PM (GMT)
probably but so far they don't seemed to have invested much into the club yet. Plus I'm not sure if any of them will be as parting of there money as Roman is.

Thats actually quite a lot.

It's just that I haven't been following QPR that much and judging by their league positions I made the assumption :D .

Good luck to them. Just hope they don't overtake us ;)
