Title: Arsenal Vs Birmingham
Description: ---Oficial Match Thread---

Black Magic - January 6, 2008 08:47 PM (GMT)
This one's a 3pm kickoff. Let's see how we cope without Toure in the Premiership. Should be 3 points in the bag.

:scarf: :scarf: :scarf:

Warning__ - January 6, 2008 08:48 PM (GMT)
Should be three points however Birmingham can be frustrating. The players should not take this game lightly.

Gunnersgod - January 6, 2008 08:49 PM (GMT)
Don't want to count any chickens but we should be shot if we can't beat Brum at home.

They play quite openly from what i've seen this season, don't think they'll be parking the bus much.

Total Football - January 6, 2008 09:00 PM (GMT)
Van Perse is meant to be back for this game.

Jens' Face - January 6, 2008 09:50 PM (GMT)
I don't think Muamba or Larsson should be allowed to play :sulk:

one funny twist is that Djourou's first league game this year with the Arsenal could be against his loan club. They'll feel really aggrieved if he plays well ... "Where was that Jo Djo when we needed him!?!"

Mr Brighterside - January 6, 2008 09:54 PM (GMT)
no eboue!

I mean, oh dear, what a pity :coffee:

hopefully gallas is ok for this one, we'll need him fully fit for Jan

rvp's return is great but frankly I feel eduardo is in form and therefore shouldn't be dropped (not that form usually affects wenger's selections)

He's meant to be back for every game.

Who else is going?

They are legible to play so there :penguin:

They'll park the bus

We'll have to be patient

pk_gunner - January 7, 2008 09:07 PM (GMT)
RVP's comeback date will be moved forward another 10 days, and he'll still be 'close'.

 I can imagine Arsene in his friday press conference:

"There has been a minor setback in Robin's return to match fitness, so the Birmingham game will be too soon for him. I expect him to return some time before 2012."

After 2 drab cup ties, we finally arrive back to the bread and butter. :scarf:

COME ON ARSENAL.

so that's your reading of the situation, is it?

(I think you mean "eligible." Or so the :penguin: whispers to me.)

Est. 1886 - January 10, 2008 08:40 AM (GMT)
Since there are so many injuries i can see the back 4 being:

Hoyte Sagna Gallas Clichy

or

Sagna Gilberto Gallas Clichy

Van Persie struck down with flu but good news on injury
Arsenal v Birmingham City
Barclays Premier League
Emirates Stadium
Sat, Jan 12, 2008, 3pm

By Richard Clarke

Arsène Wenger believes that the recurrence of Robin van Persie’s thigh problem is “minor” however the Dutchman will still miss the weekend game with Birmingham because he has been struck down with flu.

The Arsenal striker was substituted just 45 minutes into his return from injury against Tottenham on Wednesday night. It was feared that Van Persie had aggravated the muscular problem in his thigh that had kept him sidelined since mid-December. In his post-match press conference, Wenger said the 24-year-old would be undergoing tests in the morning. The vibes seem positive however a different problem will prevent him being involved on Saturday at Emirates Stadium.

“There is no real news because he got flu overnight,” Wenger told Arsenal TV Online on Thursday afternoon. “He is in bed and the doctor has gone over to see him. That means he is out for Saturday’s game anyway. But we don’t believe it is a real recurrence of the injury and it might be minor.”

Both of Arsenal’s starting centre backs picked up injuries against Tottenham. One is out for Saturday and the other is doubtful. But, even with Kolo Toure and Alex Song having left for the African Nations Cup, the manager believes he can cope.

“Djourou is out but Senderos has not been completely assessed by the medical staff yet,” said Wenger. “We will know more about him on Friday. The options are those who played last night or Gilberto or Sagna. So we have players. Everyone else is alright.”

Arsenal TV Online subscribers will be able to see the full video interview on Friday.  In it, Arsène discusses:

Reflections on the Tottenham game
Arsenal’s psychological edge
the second leg
the latest on Lehmann and Diarra
Birmingham’s progress this season
the Arsenal connection at St Andrews
the departure of Sam Allardyce from Newcastle
[ Thursday, January 10, 2008]

tigerthesmurf85 - January 10, 2008 05:03 PM (GMT)
Anyone else going in the Family Enclosure?

bloodandiron - January 10, 2008 06:00 PM (GMT)
I would like to see

Almunia
Sagna Hoyte Gallas Clichy
Hleb Cesc Flamini Rosicky
Adebayor Eduardo

But I have a feeling Wenger will play
Almunia
Sagna Gilberto Gallas Clichy
Hleb Cesc Flamini Rosicky Diaby
Adebayor

Eduardo DESERVES a start so hope you're other prediction is right. I was a bit miffed he didn't start last nite (and RVP comeing on for 20 mins) as Eduardo has always started those games.

Plus it's Brum at home so 2 up top against their leaky defence is a must (though Djourou is now back with us ;) )

Or maybe RVP playing instead of Eduardo means that Eduardo is being promoted from the Carling Cup regular to a first team starter.

Almunia

Clichy
Gallas
Senderos
Sagna

Rosicky
Cesc
Flam
Hleb

Ade
Eduardo

I think that is the most likely line-up.

milla - January 11, 2008 09:46 AM (GMT)
I think wenger will play this back 4 line up..

Sagna Gilberto Gallas Clichy

Powlo - January 11, 2008 12:55 PM (GMT)
Lawro says..

Arsenal v Birmingham

It's Arsenal isn't it? Why have I gone for them? Because they have better players than Birmingham.

Birmingham would beat Arsenal one out of 200 times and they are struggling at the other end of the table - simple as that.

We're doomed!!

Cripps - January 11, 2008 12:59 PM (GMT)
Did he predict a 2-0 win for us?

Powlo - January 11, 2008 01:00 PM (GMT)
Of course!

Cripps - January 11, 2008 02:17 PM (GMT)
Phil Dowd is the ref

Hes that small ref who always looks angry for some reason

Ah yes MR Dowd, the guy who makes decisions based on what he's told via the 4th Official and then denies it all after.

dostoy - January 11, 2008 03:36 PM (GMT)
We really should beat Birmingham but I have a problem.

For the first time this season I will not be able to watch the match on TV, so does anybody know of any streams that can be received to watch the game on.

Also is there any other information or advice anybody can give me about these streams.

Thanks very much, it is much appreciated.

here you are -- don't know if this ended up helping D_Gunner but ...

QUOTE (D_Gunner @ Jan 8 2008, 01:04 PM)
hey guys. i'll be trying to stream the game for the first time, can someone tell me how to do it? do i need ti install a program?
cheers

you do have to install a program or three -- this is the site where you get the applications and also where you're told which apps (and which channels on those apps) are showing the Arsenal game:

http://www.myp2p.eu/software.php?part=software

I'd install each of sopcast, tvants, and tvu. (In order of descending importance.) It's never certain how Arsenal will be broadcast, so you want to have multiple bases covered.

Then, after installation, use the site to find some sporting event -- any one -- to watch briefly, just to get the feel of how the streams work. It's a bad idea to try it for the first time when Arsenal kicks off in 5 minutes.

The forum is useful both for explaining generally how the applications work and, just before matchtime, where the best streams are.

Czech Out Rosicky - January 11, 2008 11:40 PM (GMT)
Finally we probably going to get the chance to see our best midfield play together - it has been a while

Hleb===Flamini===Cesc===Rosicky

is the best for me
