Title: Song

itsmehightop - February 12, 2008 07:58 PM (GMT)
Song - Has had an absolutely outstanding time at the ACN, and has shown why Wenger has put so much faith in him. I'd fancy him to come straight into the team against Man U - firstly, it would mean there would be no chance of Flamini's injury playing up, meaning he'd be fit for AC Milan, and secondly because he deserves a start in the middle much more than anyone else we have - I'm sure Song will have now got the taste for first-team football, and will be wanting to play whenever he can. Against Ac Milan however, I think that if Flamini were unavailable Wenger would turn to Gilberto, simply for his experience. But I do think that Song's great form has really sealed Gilberto's fate at the club.

Thoughts?

I doubt it.

He came off injured after 17 minutes of the final.

:goodpost: I agree 100%.

The injury -- which I don't think we really know much about? -- might get in the way of Song's playing this weekend. But, if he can, I think it would a great decision to use him to rest either Cesc or Gattousseau. Basically, Song can do anything they can do, do it better, and do it while riding a unicycle and playing the ukelele.*

But I have exactly the same hopes as you for Song's general role in our team in the months to come.

Song Really has Impressed me... It Proves His Performance @ Blackburn in the carling cup was not a fluke. I Used To Think of Him as Slow & Immobile, Now I realise I was actually talking about Gilberto, Who days are surely numbered.

His Performances In Ghana Were Outstanding especially for a young player, to come into a team full of experienced internationals, he didnt seem flustered at all.
Arsene Wenger see's his ideal position as Centre back, however I disagree after taking a long hard look @ him these past few weeks.

He has a BIG presence in midfield, Though he is not the quickest, he makes up for it in positioning, he sprays the ball around the park beautifully, his distribution range has really suprised me, he shields the ball effortlessly, the boy is really a powerhouse....and what most young players and some experience players lack he Has, Which is The Ability to play Simple! he doesnt dwell on the ball like most young players like Diarra did and Diaby (Although Diaby Is Still A good Prospect playing out of Posistion) Like Flamini he recieves the ball and plays it easy and simple, He's still a bit rough around the edges but mark my words Song will be Immense in Years to come, Personally i would like to see Song & Diaby In The Middle for a couple of games. Oh Yea And 5 POINTS CLEAR ! ! ! ! !

Rkane - February 12, 2008 08:42 PM (GMT)
To be honest, he started to show his form once he got regular games down at Charlton. Most weeks he was comended on his performances for them and that was his platform to build from.

I hope his view on patience won't change with regards to getting first team games, once back with us. A little bit of praise can change a persons perception quite quickly.

I think Song will become an extremely good player but whether or not he'll be playing in defence or in midfield, no one knows. Although I do slightly think Wenger will want to develop him into a CB for the future.

Nice point on simplicity. he lost his reputation, which he didn't really have at the Fulham game becuase it was of his first games for us...Glad to see he has proved people wrong...

It seems to me to make the most sense, going forward into the near future, to use Song similar to how we used to Flamini -- back-up dm and back-up cb (instead of lb). Then just wait and see what happens. No need to make predictions -- things will play themselves out.

no, that was Flamini and France. It fit the national mood at the time and I didn't think we could fight 4 wars simultaneously. (I was convinced that Flamini was -- well not crap, but simply adequate and not a jot better.)

Czech Out Rosicky - February 12, 2008 08:57 PM (GMT)
Song is a confidence player and the faith wenger put in him is coming to fruit now - 2nd choice DM and if he is fit a shoe in for Saturday IMO

TipsyChubbs - February 12, 2008 09:10 PM (GMT)
Wouldn't mind seeing him against Man U and giving Flamini a rest for his encounter with Gattuso, Kaka and Pirlo. He played well at Old Trafford for Charlton last season. Hopefully Song's injury isn't serious.

Song is derseving of a place on our bench at least, he offers more than Gilberto, please dont say Gilberto has experience, experience is just a memory, I'd rather have an enthusiastic young player who will put in his all,

In what seems to be a day of family inspiration in world football, Arsenal midfielder Alexandre Song has declared that nothing motivates him in the game more than his wife and children.

The 22-year-old Cameroon international is married to his long-time love, Olivia, and has two children: sons Nolan and Kaylian.

Song said to The Mirror: “Every time I step on to the pitch at the Emirates, I just look up to where my wife and my son are sitting, wave to him and I do everything for my family. I want to give them all of my love because they make me strong.”

Song’s passion for his family comes from much love, along with a very large family, of 17 sisters and 10 brothers, and says that his wish is to be the father to his children that he never had.

Adding: “My family is so important to me. I was only three years old when my father died, I didn’t know him and that is why I am so determined to be there for my family.”

“That is what makes me happy now and makes me feel strong. It makes me proud to know that my son is watching me on the pitch.”

He concluded: “They are my motivation all of the time on the pitch.”

Song will be missing for the Gunners for around a month come January due to the African Cup of Nations.
