Title: AC Milan v Arsenal
Description: March 4th 7:45pm
Cripps - February 20, 2008 11:36 PM (GMT)
No English team has ever beaten Milan at the San Siro.
Looks a tough task.
They said the same when we went to Inter for a must win game. We all know what happened then.
I believe we also beat Juve in 1980 at their ground but as that was before my time, il need confirmation from the old guard on here.
Overall our record in Italy is pretty decent.
Just off the top of my head, i can remember getting a good result against Torino in the 1994 CWC semi final beating more Italian opposition in the final.
We knocked Sampdoria out a year later on penalties in Italy.
We've drawn with Lazio and Fiorentina in recent years.
Only defeat i can think of was against Juve.
Reason to be optimistic i say.
Do we go with the same side?
Alias - February 20, 2008 11:38 PM (GMT)
If Rosicky and van Persie is back then they will play instead of Eduardo and Eboue.
But they won't be fit and I'm not ruling out another dozen injuries to come in the next 2 weeks.

We don't need to beat them to get through, a score draw will do nicely.
Juve certainly were beaten 1-0 at home by us....probably when they decided they'd take Brady from us too. :sulk:
Same team and formation for the second leg, although hopefully with an RVP or Rosicky on the left and no Eduardo...it just doesn't work out there for him.
The English record against Italians in recent years is pretty spot on from what I can recall, so theres no reason we can't get the result we need out there.
Czech Out Rosicky - February 20, 2008 11:57 PM (GMT)
Rosicky will be back and in for Eboue if all is the same, otherwise same team yes and we must counter as they will attack us more.
we beat inter there 5-1
no one had beaten madrid at the bernabeu and we did
Rkane - February 20, 2008 11:59 PM (GMT)
Just a score draw, thats all we need. Not too much of an ask.
Cripps - February 21, 2008 12:02 AM (GMT)
Lets hope the boys dont go in to the game thinking the same way.
We have to go there to get a goal.
Win if possible.
We will need to score. Of that i am certain, its whether we can keep them out which will determine if we go through or not.
Milan have been very poor in Serie A at the San Siro but this is the CL so form goes out the window. They are the masters at this type of thing.
Rkane - February 21, 2008 12:08 AM (GMT)
None of that, for once, I can disagree with ;)

Any early news on there two injuries, Nesta and Pato went off i think.
KaiserKolo - February 21, 2008 07:00 PM (GMT)
Pato had cramp and will recover. Nesta went off as a precaution, so should be back too, unless they get injured again... :ninja:

Czech Out Rosicky - February 21, 2008 07:31 PM (GMT)
pato was a prick and was just wasting time,
Nesta not sure maybe hell be out
kaka will be 100% which for me is a huge difference to the tie
deanoxx - February 21, 2008 11:38 PM (GMT)
The return will suit us better than playing at home because they will come out and we can hit them on the break. We need rosicky back for eboue because he is so ineffective ##
cescytime - February 22, 2008 06:19 PM (GMT)
Don't forget what happened back in November 2003 when we went to the San Siro and exacted revenge for our 3-0 home humbling by Inter Milan, by smacking them 5-1 on their own pitch.
Oh Yeh! I think we played Birmingham away a few days before that match as well.
Hopefully a good Omen!!!!!

:goodpost:
I'm confident
we only need a score draw and I'm confident we can get a win (although bendtner needs to buck up his ideas or wenger might even pick theo :yikes: )
Cripps - February 25, 2008 11:26 PM (GMT)
Hopefully he does pick Theo.
His pace against that ageing defence will be an asset

So to confirm RVP wont be back for this game, you post a link to a thread named RVP returns?
People with low IQ ie kids might get easily fooled

Kaka will play.
Him, Gattuso, Pirlo, Pato et.c were all mean to be out for the first leg and they all made miraculous recoveries.

Milan doctors saying Kaka is 50:50 to be fit for the game.
He wont play in Milans next 2 league games
Synergetic - February 27, 2008 02:58 AM (GMT)
I'm not going to believe anything they say on the injury front. And to be honest, we shouldn't really care.
Bottom line: if we give 100% and play to our best, we'll beat Milan no matter who they play or how they play.
punzai - March 1, 2008 09:24 AM (GMT)
I dreamt last night that we won 8-2 whilst playing in knee-high grass and bluebells on a hill overlooking Milan...
So no worries for Tuesday! :scarf:
